I found 4 patches for this game by using the link on Vaprakgruumsh's sig.
Which patches should I install?
Will they fix my lack of sound problem?
Are there any other patches I should know about?

The latest patch is the 'Wiz8Patch2001_12_23_release'. Just unzip into your Wiz 8 folder and overwrite the files. I am not sure if it will fix your sound problem though.

Actually, no. Install the one stated above. It contains all the fixes from the previous patches.

If you have the two CD version, no patch is needed as per their web site. The two cd version is already patched up. As for sound problems, uncheck EAX support in your soundcard control panel. I did and my sound problems went away.

BTW, install the Wizfast program to speed up combat, unless you are unemployed or are incarcerated in an establishment with no keys!.
