I know I'm hopelessly optimistic (or maybe just desperate) but does anyone have any information on whether there will eventually be a wizardry 9?

Nothing officially, but I hear that Sir-Tech was looking (and coming close to finding) a buyer for the Wizardry series. Can't tell you anything beyond that. Since Sir-Tech went under though, you've gotta wonder whether it will be the same. We can only hope ;)
