Hello all! This is my first post to this wonderful board. My problem is as follows: In the Northern Wilderness I found the 6 trees with the runes and pressed all. I then found the rock but when I used the short staff on it the staff just disappeared. There was no "thunk" sound as with the cemetary switch and no staff sticking out of the rock (like the dagger in the cemetary). Also the cursor still changes to a hand when passed over the rock. I've tried a second short staff to no avail. Has this happened to anyone else or is it a known bug? I've looked for the mushroom circle but I don't think it was activated...any ideas?

First time I heard this problem. Better check that all six runes are clicked properly..

Make sure you are putting staff on the right rock. Should be the one that is lit up pink or purple.

Thanks for the tips guys but alas I'm still buggered. Checked all the runes and they're activated and checked the rock which does seem to have a purpleish glow when your right up on it...besides it's the only one which changes the pointer to a hand. Oh well I'll try again next time thru! Thanks again!

weird.. maybe you can try applying the patch?

imho there isn't that much in the northern dungeon, mostly exp. The mountain wilderness dungeon is worthwhile 'cos there are a few nifty items including Nebdar's amulet..

Did you leave the Northern Wilderness area at anytime during the activation of all six of the runes and the use of the Short Staff? As this has been known to cause problems (refer to http://wiz8.web1000.com/NorthernWalkthrough.html ** Spoiler Warning **).

AHA!! Thanks Wolfie that's exactly what happened. I had hit one of the ruins and then had left the area for about 3 game weeks. I've started another party and this one had no trouble getting into the dungeon.
