I'm obsessing on smaller parties at the moment, so I'm curious what everyone's favorite ones are.

Right now I'm running:
Dwarven Lord
Faerie Ninja
Mook Gadgeteer
Elven Bishop

I deliberately picked what I think of as "expert" characters - the ones who develop more slowly but kick butt later. Slow start with no bard, and my bishop put folks to sleep several times (she was *so* embarassed  ), but the girls are rolling now. Next up: the Arnika Road. :D

I bet a 4-person faerie party could kick some butt, say, 2 ninjas and 2 bishops (only reason I didn't is that after playing for a while, having 2 bishops is sort of an unfair advantage, IMHO).

I don't do solo games, only because I like the variety of having several characters.

I am currently playing with a small party as well:

Hobbit - Samuria
Faerie - Monk
Hobbit - Ninja
Faerie - Bishop

My Bishop concentrates on mage/priest and I am also pumping up the magic capabilities of the rest of my party. Getting through the Monastary was a bit hard, but made a dash for Arnika and am currently wondering through town to build up my party.

Don't get too excited. I'm only just leaving the monastery.

I'm suffering from dual-character withdrawal, too. I got too used to having two bishops and starting them out as priest and mage, then switching at L8. I thought of starting my new bishop off as a mage, then switching, but decided the challenge might be fun. And just my luck, it's one of those games where I've been besieged by slimes in the monastery. I don't know why they come in clumps in some games, but it's sad. Nothing like a bunch of nauseated characters puking in the hallway.

All I can say is that starting a bishop right off the bat in a smaller party is challenging, to say the least. :D

But, then, I wanted a challenge.

A bishop from the beginning might be a challenge in a small party, but rewarding since all the magic "schools" (wizardry, psionics, divinity and aclhemy) can be practised from the start. Also you don't get the 8 level punishment from being a mage to the other magic schools, so it's possible to have access to all 7th level spells at level 18, not just wiz at 18 and the rest at 26. On the downside you'll need more xp to get to those levels :D

I'm running a 3 man party (faerie ninja (rules the world with CoC), human samurai and elf bishop) currently at around level 19. I just love getting over 200k xp from one fight, and 60k xp from the easy ones, each ofcourse ;)

Cool! How far have you gotten? Sounds like you're in Trynton, maybe. I thought the Monastery was a bitch with my party, and you're one smaller than mine (of course, the gadgeteer is fairly worthless early on, so our parties aren't that much different).

I'm only up to Level 7 (all those slimes in the monastery really added up, though).

This is my first 4-member party (look at signature). I played a solo game, 3-member party, 5 member party, 6, 7 and 8 member party, but never a 4 member party. But this is my favourite 4-member party.

I just made it to Trynton, but had to run past some rapax patrols that were surrounding me all the time. Good thing there is water there.

The good thing about this party is that it has an unfair sort of advantage.

No kidding! :D That's why I only took one bishop this time. It's also why I didn't do the 2 Faerie ninja, 2 Faerie bishop party yet (well, that, plus I'm afraid I'd develop an urge to sing "it's a small world after all.." or some other equally nauseating and perky thing). Besides, 2 bishops are almost an embarassment of riches. 3 must really rock!
