Well im starting over.
got a wiz7 imported party, and i was wondering what weapons my Lord should wield. Primary weapons starts off as an imported enchanted broadsword, progressing thru the diamond epee, demonsbane, fang and beyond. secondary weapons is a bit of a quandry though... to start ive got the choice of most low grad secondary weapons, the best one i can import is a stilleto its quick and good, but its a dagger, so when i eventually swap to diamond eyes my sword skill is 80+ but my mace+flail skill is rudimentary at best. so i was thinking of using a plain hammer. slower, less damage than the stilleto, but builds on my mace+flail skill. any other suggestions? |
Bloodlust is a nice early primary weapon for a Lord. Also to have him develop faster you might want to dual mace type weapons, start with something like a stun mace primary, eventually get the mauler. I've had games where I find more than one diamond eyes too, can dual 2 of them.

Yes, I have diamond eyes combo too... there are 2 de in this game: first in mt wilderness (fight undead d00ds to get it), second is in Shaman's inventory in Trynton, you have to pp that one.

It's all a matter of personal taste. I really like some of the swords in the game, especially excalibur, so I made my new party with a lord just so that I could use excalibur and another guy with diamond eyes (and I'm determined to get that stinkin' light sword this time through)
Thing that I don't like about bloodlust for the lord is the fact that he has very little offensive magic, so he has ended up wasting a lot of rounds due to the curse on the bloodlust, though the damage with it is pretty nifty. I do have a question concerning the dual weapons....100 is supposed to be no penalty with using two weapons, so when I get it maxxed to 125, does that mean that he'll get combat bonuses when using two weapons instead of one? Just thought that I'd check. |
definately cant be bad... and the lord gets that nice 25 pt bonus in dual weapons
well ill go for the dual maces for a while then... seems like a good way of really boosting stats. maybe find some innocent monster to pummel then heal repeatedly. though i did notice at the end of my old game that the lord was one of my best hitters rarely missed, and was quite a tank with +3 plate armour, and a pretty powerful spellcaster to boot. I believe the +25 bonus is still useful above 100 for the offhand weapon; at 100 there's no penalty for the primary weapon but there still is one on the secondary. Someone had posted a formula for it (penalty for dualing) a while back, I forget the exact numbers but the bonus is worthwhile.

I finally gave up on the dual weapon deal and equiped my lord with excaliber. Usually does 70 points damage per attack.

Was thinking about a Lord with Excalibur too - problem seems to be it's initiative penalty, wonder how it compares to a LS which has a huge initiative bonus? Would a LS and shield be better for a Lord? Might get in extra swings with it it seems.

My Lord in W7 had Light Sword and Dragon Kite, now you can get Dragon Kite really early, but LS is kinda tough, like X-Cal. Fang's almost impossible to get early. That leaves Bloodlust as the only (relatively)decent early sword. I find a preference for Valks here, Mystic Spear early, Dread Spear not much later...
Speaking of which, does it do any good to have stats that exceed the bar graph? If i combine Valk bonus with Dread bonus, i get more than 125. Am i wasting bonus? |
otter, as far as i know yes, anything over 125 doesn't count. i guess maybe if you got hexed it might come in handy? am thinking of a party where i give RFS as a monk the dread spear to make him kinda valk-esque, with stealth and crits thrown in...
