I finally finished Wizardry 8!

Party stats just before final battle (Day 76):

Character Lvl Kills Deaths
Vi 18 203 0
RFS-81 21 347 1
Samurai 21 590 5
Lord 22 206 3
Rogue 23 255 3
Ranger 22 468 2
Priest 22 69 2
Mage 22 368 11

Comments:
Great game! I rarely finish a game. So this game deserves a lot of credit for keeping my interest all the way through.

What makes it a such a good game? Graphics are dated, but textures, models, and spell effects are all excellent. Character development is great. The voices in the game are really well done and though the character quips get repetitious it never really bothered me because every once in a while they would say something I'd never heard before and have me laughing.

Maybe I developed him wrong but I was totally unimpressed with the Lord class. My Rogue in the back row got more kills. The Priest had few kills compared to everyone else but I attribute that to her being busy healing and clearing conditions off people all the time. She could deal out the damage whenever she had the chance to fight.

I've played a little Morrowind, I know they are different types of games but here are things that I will miss from Wizardry 8:

voice acting, you hear the same boring voices over and over again in Morrowind

being able to view hit point status of opponents, Wiz 8 even changes the creature textures as they take damage, Morrowind does neither

some potions can be used like grenades in Wiz 8, in Morrowind I can make a paralyze potion but can't target a creature with it

Wiz 8 you get rewarded generously with xp for defeating tough enemies, Morrowind you wouldn't get much more reward for fighting a cow that has a lot of hit points than you would a tough creature with magic using capabilities and immunities.

It's cool you like Wizardry 8!!! I think too it's a very good game. But a very difficult point: too much battle!!!

It's also one of my favorite Games , i didn't finish it jet but im youst before the acsenion peak .
Im have a party of : Lord,Samurai,Monk,Bard,Ranger,Mage
An my Lord does really well no dealing with the Ivory Blade mostly make more than 30 dam. per hit and he's also the healer of the party .
But the character that'smost strong i think is the bard with instruments that make spells like nuclear blast (pwr4) or freez all or heal all (pwr6)
At first i was disapointed about the monk and the ranger but now my monk is in first line and does more criticals and hardly ever get hit and the ranger more often uses his bow for criticals so they doe quite well

My lord hast a dagger with 10% of kill and so he often does instant kills

Now my next party will look like that :
Valkyrie/lord
Ranger:Mook
Monk
Samurai:Felrup
Bard
Gageteer

So good, this game is really a great one!!! Yeah!
Bard is very useful, I have never seen it before in a video game! Usually, bard are weak up to level 300000 lol!!

As Dilbert, I'm a waterDeep Gard, I wonder what is the next level?

ive found the lord to be the strongest character in my party, spell wise.
lord, samurai, ninja,monk
with the lord and samurai covering 90% of the party buffing spells.

Gary Larson 05-13-2002 02:18 PM

Since I had a Priest and a Mage their buffing capabilities were far better than that of the Lord or Ranger. The only spell casting my Lord and Ranger did was healing when it was absolutely necessary. It was very rare for my Priest or Mage to run out of mana before a battle was done, so having anyone else cast spells would be a waste of opportunities to do damage.
