Mine is about level 18 with good polearm and power strike, carrying a mystic spear, I think...
Is there a better one? Only weapon Bela offered was a ranger only bow. Have the Ebon staff on my priest-- can you get more than one of these? I really like the Vals, but sad their weapon bonus is in a category of weapons that seems to blow. Oru |
Dread Spear - Sold by Bela
Stun Rod - Sold by Sadok Mindblast Rod - Found in Lower Marten's Bluff Raven's Bill - Chests throughout the game Faust Halberd - High level chests |
Best Polearm in the game is the 'Dread Spear' ... Bela sells it most of the time, and it can be found somewhere (might be a random item).
U can only have 1 Ebon Staff... u won't find a second ebon gem! But there are plenty of good staffs in the game. If you're lvl18, u could clear the mountain wilderniss area and get some of the best weapons in the game... If you build your valkyrie right, she should have 2x3 attacks a round by lvl18, matching a fighters damage. The big advantage of a valkyrie is that you get better polearms before the better swords... and they have extended range! Your valkyrie will find another target during combat, while a fighter may be out of range. Signed, One sick Psycho |
The Dread Spear is ok, but it is not the best Polearm in the game. The Faust Halberd is the highest damaging Polearm, and a Valkyrie should have no problem overcoming the -3 regen by the time you are able to find one. The Mindblast Rod has the best random effects, but the Stun Rod is a good middle ground with similar effects and slightly higher damage.
Overall, the only random effects worth having on a weapon are ones that completely disable the monster or kill it. The Stun Rod is the best choice for a Valkyrie. If you can manage to find a Faust Halberd and overcome the -3 regen, its higher damage and %chance to kill will beat out the Stun Rod. [ 05-09-2002, 12:55 AM: Message edited by: Avenstar ] |
There is a ultra - kickass lance too, very very rare - Maenad's Lance, Valkyrie only weapon (maybe Fighter too, forgot). Never found it in the game though - I used editor to add it. Rocks, really rocks.
|
Maenads Lance is only attainable through an editor. It is not found anywhere in the game, not in any chest at least and not from any named NPC.
|
Maenad's lance is only available through importing. It was introduced back in Wizardry 6 (at least I never found one in Wiz 5). You could then transfer to Wiz 7, but I'm not sure if you could find it there too.
What I liked about Wiz 6 is that it had the kickass weapons for all types. I could finish with the Muramasa for my Samurai, Maenad's Lance for a Valk, and The Avenger for my Lord. You didn't have to worry about finding random treasure. |
I've finished wiz7 2 times, and never found the lance :( So I believe it's wiz6 item.

Miss-information everywhere. =)
The Maenads Lance cannot be imported from Wizardry 7 to Wizardry 8, and it cannot be found in any chest or looted from any NPC in Wizardry 8. The Maenads Lance could be found in Wizardry 6 in the Hall of the Dead. The Maenads Lance could be found in Wizardry 7 in the Crypt/Tomb/Gorror chests, and it could be also be imported. |
