I have Vi and Myles in my group right now that take up the 2 npc slots. I was wondering if i should be switchin them out for some new better ones soon. As of right now i am in Upper Trynton and about to talk to the shaman.

I was thinking about maybe switchin out Vi or myles for a gadagteer...somthing that can hit stuff all the time. As of right now Myles and Vi don't get to attack alot as they are someone in the middle of the formation.

Would appreciate any help given ;)
Thanks

I currently have Vi and the Android as NPC's in my party. To get more attacks out of Vi , put her in the center and give her a spear or pole arm of some other type.Equipped with that she will hit anything that your front line fighters can. If you want more attacks out of her then pump up her speed as fast as you can.

Myles will leave anyway when you head from Trynton into the swamp, which the hints you will have collected will have told you is where to go next. On the far side of the swamp, leading to the T'Rang mines, you can pick up RFS-81. He is probably the very best of all the RPC's.

Madras is there in Trynton and will join. I think he's a better RPC than Myles, but Vi is about as good as any you can get. Better than most. Get her some armor, and a spear or some other pole arm, set up a flat front formation, and put her in the middle. She'll clean up.

Starting out, they can be on the flanks, but you want to tuck your unarmorable spell caster types in the middle, not a Rogue or Valkyrie!

i prefer no RPC's at all. 2 RPC's eat up 25% of your XP's and about the same out of your skill increases, and they won't go everywhere. RFS-82 might be worhtwhile, as it goes everywhere, but it's only half-a-monk; Psionics usually account for about 1/4 of my Monk's kills.

I appreciate the help...yet i have another question ;)

Vi is ALWAYS affected with somthing...disease / insanity etc. I used to think it was a cursed weapon i put on her but then i took it off. Is this how she is regularly or am i doing somthing completley wrong?

If your RPC's aren't seeing any action, try re-arranging your party formation. If you put your weak characters in the back (facing back) and spread your fighters between the center and the left and right sides when you turn to face something all your fighters will get to attack.Everyone in the left, right and center will be able to hit with close weapons in the front 90 degree arc. Remember, leave your front row empty.

What are you fighting ? - it seems that you are not very far in the game, so it shouldn't happen very often, that you meet something that has insanity and disease.

Maybe you are neglegting your RPC's ? - normally I'm also giving most good items to my main chars, but you have to give the RPC's some good items too. Crock in the swamp is selling "ring pro magic" which would help you against some of the status spells. Plus are you having magic screen running all the time.

Hope this helps

Personally, I like Madras: he is cute and funny, and I just enjoy the game more with him on board. Plus, 2 gadgateers is nice: lots of ranged attacks, and as you quickly aquire so much gadg equipment that its nice to be able to use more than 1 item per round.

He does complain about certain locations. I had to let him go when heading for Bayjin, then hired him back.

Haven't done Martin's sea caves yet, but when I do, I'm gonna take Madras, let him drown, then reserect him on the other side if I can...

Forgot to ask: how do you keep an npc in a specific spot in the group? I can move mine where I like, but they keep dropping to the back after every combat...
