I've heard all over the board that the items are being randomly found in areas (esp. chests) as you enter. Do you think that it also has to do with the level of the game like in Wiz 7. the only reason i ask is b/c i'm still getting very simple things in even the Bayjin chest, and it makes it seem like i need to wait to get more important items. Anyone else heard anything?

oh, and another thing. Maybe this is a very easy thing that i'm just missing, but i'm not getting any of the gadget parts from the stationary NPC's like Croc or Anna w/out killing them?

You mean when you click on the Trade button, the gadgets are not in the list of available items? Have you tried reducing their inventory list and camping for 24 hours (3x)?

It seems that the gadgie items popping up (except with Fuzzfas) are also pretty random. I had the same problem....best thing that happened for my gadgie was when I killed Crock and got his gadgie items.

I have the toughest time getting Crock to sell his gadgets, no matter what I do, he won't have them, but sometimes gaining a level will do it. Like when your spellcasters hit level 11, the spellbooks he sells become different... the same is true for gadgets.

Yep - I'm also pretty sure that level does factor in when buying items. I tried to get Crock to sell spellbooks hen I first met him (my bishops as lvl 9) - I slept about 10x24 hours, but NO spellbooks. Later when I came back (bishops now ca. lvl 13) - he had most of the books every time. The same goes for other "powerfull" items for sale.

Maybe there's a minimum level for items before the traders sell it ?

yah, it's party average that has to be 11 for the good books at Crock's. I had two that i killed off at the start (couldn't restart W-7, so i tried making a 4-member import team out of 6) and their being L1 meant everyone else had to be 16, so i gave up that party. I've been getting to Crock around L7 the first time, on my way to get books from Sadok; Crock has Amulets of Healing at that party level, and Hayai bo, and if i don't have a Gad he offers me all his gadgets right away. Maybe switching to Rogue to build Stealth for a level and trick Crock into revealing his stuff would work...(the AC you get for Stealth doesn't care what class you are)
