I've used the chameleon spell several times in order to avoid some lenghty fights, but it doesn't seem to work. i realize that the spell won't allow me to walk through the middle of 20 monsters, but no matter how hard i try to sneak around some monsters they always spot me from afar. btw, does chameleon work indoors too (or supposed to i should say)?

Well, I've used chameleon ok, but I don't move
when I use it. I see a herd of something on the radar then in the distance, I move off road and cast chameleon. I noticed something else. If the
monsters are staying on the road, stopping off-road and not moving makes them go by you! No spell needed. If they don't see you move, it seems to work.

You're not running around with the "Light" spell on, are you? Read the description of light. You'll note it's a hovering ball of incandesence (flame).

Monsters ignore the Chameleon spell because they're attracted to the flame.

Also, it helps if you can do the Hypnotic Lure spell. Cast it AWAY from you (as far as possible, but still in their range).

But Chameleon is not perfect. It's just many people make it far less useful than it is by having the darn light spell on... :eek:
