Just started this game and read one thread where you should make a bard female because of some necklace only available to females. Found this hard to believe but if it's true, are there any other important profession/sex/race combinations for items out there. I know im cheatin a bit but it would piss me off to know i couldnt use something because of sex.

IIRC, there are a few items of armor that can only be used by females. If there's anything else gender-specific, I can't remember it.

Two other unique items:

Cane of Corpus, only usable by Faerie Ninjas

Giant's Sword, only usable by Mook (and maybe only by a Mook Ranger, don't know - I had a Mook bard once & he couldn't use it - could be a Mook tank other than a Ranger might be able to use it).

There are a number of small items that can only be used by a specific race/class. But I can't think of anything else major. ;) Your mileage may vary....

aww! ::batting her eyelashes:: it's a pretty sad day when you great big strong guys would begrudge us lil ole girls with no stamina reserves a teeny tiny +1 Stamina necklace. ;)

Amulets of Endurance and Lockets of Reflection are Female only and give +1 Stamina, I have one of each on my Gadgeteer because each time we camp, she has to do Armorplate, Detect Secrets, X-Ray, etc. My bard has the one Amulet of Endurance, but only really uses the Mandolin of the Magus.

I think the female-only is not as necessary for the bard, but it's a real helper for the Gadgeteer. I did make both of mine female though.

The Al-Sedexus quest (near the end) goes a lot easier if at least one of your 6 starting characters is male.
