Okay I know some of you (and me) have reloaded many times during the battle in Bayjin Shallows to get the light sword. I have tried almost 20 times and gotten plenty of junks instead.

Now, instead of killing the whole horde, just finish of about 3-4 of them and seriously wounded the rest. Then make the remaining ghosts retreating by blinding them or retreat from the combat area yourself.

Once the battle if over, save in a new file and cast X-ray vision.

Wait at the corner and ambush the remaining ghost and finish them off quickly. This will not improve your chances of getting a light sword but it will make the battle shorter and less frustrating if you have to repeat the battle again.

Did you reload saved files that is before first entering Bajin Shallows area?

This is how I did it:

1. Enter Bayjin Shallows, kill big momma get excaliber.

2. Save before fighting Bucanner ghost.

3. Fight with ghost, took out 3-4 of them and blinded the rest with Omniguns and Ebon staff.

4. Let them retreat and save the game.

5. Retreat to the nearest corner and wait for them to come back. Ambush and kill them all.

If you are unable to get a *Light* *Sword* from step #3 or step #5, reload savegame from step #4 and replay the combat in step #5. You will need plenty of retries to get the light sword but the battle will be significantly shorter than the one in step #2.

Hope that helps. Oh... trust me, the sword is *worth* the trouble. ;)

Another good thing that quickens it up with these blokes... dmg spells.. having 2 folks that can cast even just a lvl 3 or 4 banish helps much... then have some whipping rocks... some air dmg spells... they'll stand there and take it... course... most important thing right away is soul shield... dang do i hate all them spells they cast at you.
