er..ok I may be an idiot for asking but how do you get rid of draining status? it doesnt seem to hinder my character...what it do?
|
it will hinder him.
slowly without u really noticing u will lose HP and MP off of your base. I heard someone say even your main stats start going down too like strenght and such. ohh and its permanent. the faster u get rid of the draining the less permanent damage u will recieve. go to arnika and drink from the pool next to the priest dude. if the pool is used up u can buy a potion from him that restored draining. I think its called restoration. Imight be wrong. Also its not cheap. So if ur broke another thing u can try is to strip him of his weapons and armor. put him in the from part of ur party alone. put everyone else in the back now rush out and get into a figth set everyone to defend. except him let him die. then when u brig him back to life he should be ok. kinda messed up way to cure someone but i believe it works. |
I think I'm confused on the issue too. I know getting diseased can cause permanent stat loss, but I thought draining only affected your max HP until you took a Potion of Renewal. I guess I don't get drained enough to notice... I usually have plenty of Cure Disease and Renewal potions on me.

That is what it is. Being drained, you lose levels and all that comes with it, XP, MP, HP. Now, being deseased on the other hand, you lose vitality, stat points, health, and all of that. Deseased losses are permanent. You can not get back stats thru normal channels, ie potions or spells. The only way to get back stats is to level up....

I heard drain is not permanent if you use a renewal potion. Maybe it was that renewal is the only cure, and drained points can be permanent if not cured soon enough? My, perhaps mistaken, feeling was that you get all points back with a renewal potion. I always carry them and never sell them, although drain seems to be only a problem at early to mid-game.

Renewal is the only cure for draining. and it needs to be applied ASAP, or else you will slowly, permanently lose stats, HPS, MPS etc.
i am not sure how long you have, but have had great success with drinking a Renewal at the end of the battle and not losing anything. however, my first time, i barely noticed it and lost nearly 55 HPS, 42 MPS and other things over the course of 3 gamedays. the blood drop was gone after about a gamehour, so i thot that i had been healed. but i wasn't. i had permanent losses but the Renewal pot at that late date stopped any further loss. silly me. i only noticed because all of a sudden my girl was unable to carry anything. her personal inventory had grown to be too heavy for her to even walk around. :D yep, i learned my lesson, so i went back to an earlier save. now i keep one Renewal on everyone at all times. i still run into bat vampires and the like occassionally and don't wanna go thru that again. Don't have the manual right in front of me but it has a section where it explains all the conditions. Drained will stick with you until you use a renewal potion (or drink from Braffit's pool); but there's no time limit to do either, it will never become permanent or incurable, you'll just be drained until you cure it. Disease is different, that one if not cured quickly will decrease your stats permanently.

The manual is vague about whether you actually get your points back (p.47). It does talk in cautionary tones about not getting points back from diseased condition, but only says renewal potions cure drain. It also says the drain icon disappears but is still active, you don't even know what is happening if you forget the cause! I'd go with Vesselle's words of experience.
