perhaps this is a stupid question.... but: have you been to the Shaman before ? Visit the 7th Bow (Mysteri potion.....) ?

Because I think, if you don't have, the game "thinks" that you don't have the quest to find the idol...

If you have been at the 7th bow before.... I don't know why you can't enter, sorry.

Yep, did the 7th bow. Anything for an excuse to try a mystery potion...

You should get closer or try to stand in a different spot. When I'd do the Vine-repair-bridge thing, it'd always say "you might want to save that" until I walked right up to the edge.

Also, if you're trying to "use" the idol from inventory, that may not work (this use stuff is a bit shaky in some places). What has always worked for me is to stand in front of the pedestal, put the idol on the cursor, then click idol on pedestal.
