My first post here....I love all the useful info, so I thought I'd add my own.
Just in case you are running low on a certain type of ammo with your ranged combat fighters, just put another bundle of it in your alt. secondary weapon slot. As soon as you run out, you will reload, and you don't have to waste a turn. |
Thing with doing that though is you then cant equip a shield or dual weapon. Should also note putting soemthing in the alt 2ndry slot (including ammo etc) hits you with a decrease % because it consider's that as dual wielding.
Just put spare ammo in your inventory and when you run out you can manually put the ammo into your ammo slot for ranged weapon. (during combat if you have ammo in your normal inventory you can re-load ammo without having to "equip" it like you do a new weapon or taking ammo out of the group inventory. |
Mage 77, do you mean that a player character using a mace and a shield, for instance, is considered to be dual-weilding, and can take a penalty for that if he doesn't have the dual weapon skill? I have a priest that uses a whip and shield, and doesn't perform very well, even thought his STR and DEX are good. Maybe that's why.

In a sense it does. Increasing your "shield" skill will offset that decrease though & increase your porformance.
They way it works as ive seen people explain it is that with dual wielding you get a performance decrease. Once your Dual Wield skill hits 100 its the same performance as if you were using 1 weapon. (otherwords 100 D/W sets you to fighting capabilites on par of someone with only 1 sword but with the ability to D/W). Shield's also recognize under some formula that your dual wielding. "But" because its a shield its not as pronounced as say having a weapon in the 2ndry slot. Increasing your "shield" skill will offset this slight perfomance decrease & once your at a certain point in skill it will increase your capabilites. |
I thought that dual wield was when you had two weapons going on at the same time? So if my Valk has an Awl Pike for her primary weapon and a long bow for her secondary, does she get a penalty to her Spear????
|
No, dual wield applies to weapons in the offhand. Bows and pikes are in the primary hands.
But this stuf about the shields is news to me; I'll have to check that out (not that many of my characters use shields).
Nightowl2
|
