I have downloaded the most recent patch (twice!) and have the primary 3 objects yet every time I try to enter Ascension Peak (from Rapax Castle) my system crashes to the desktop....is there something I overlooked?

By "latest patch" you mean it shows "v1.2.4" in the top-right of the main menu?

Also, check all the file attributes, I've read elsewhere that people have had files marked as "read-only" and so the patches haven't overwritten them, resulting in some files being un-patched whilst others are, end-result, poota gets all confoosed and crashes.

If you find some read-only files, mark 'em at read/write and then re-apply patch.

Your advice worked perfectly. Also I placed the patch inside my Wiz8 folder before opening it which made all the difference in the world.
