does strength affect the damage on any weapon i choose? or do the base attributes for the specific weapon affect them? for example does strength affect the damage a dagger does?
|
Strength is a factor for all melee weapons. You can see this easily by clicking on the shield icon at the top of the inventory screen. That will display the base weapon damage, modified by the character's strength, along with other important information.
This applies to non-fighters as well.
Nightowl2
|
Strength effect on *melee* damage, the formulae:
If strength is 50, no effect. For each point of strength above 50, the character gains 2% of damage For each point of strength below 50, the character looses 1% of damage. Examples: 35 Strength -> -15% damage 50 Strength -> +0% damage 75 Strength -> +50% damage 100 Strength -> +100% damage 110 Strength -> +120% damgage Affects *any* melee weapon the character can use. Profeciency in the weapon or close combat has no effect on the damage. |
Just wanted to point out that strength also affects missile damage, at a lower rate of 1%/point over 50.

Damage = Base damage x ( 1 + Bonus/100)
If Strength is 100: Melee = 100% Bonus giving: Damage = Base damage x ( 1 + 100/100) = Base damage x 2 Ranged = 50% Bonus giving: Damage = Base damage x ( 1 + 50/100) = Base damage x 1.5 Q.E.D. |
