I 've played the game before, but this time through, soloing a cleric/mage ....
I encountered some merchants after the drizzt-encounter, i got the
"you have been way layed" (Bad Spelling) -message and met some merchants. These merchants then went hostile, shapechanged into me,
and were completely magic-resistant to my attacks. Only the slayer could deal with them ....
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE !?!?!?!

You've been cloned before: at the final battle in Spellhold. A certain Jon seemed to have made them. It's quite likely that he made some others to hunt and kill you.
