never tried them, so I'm just wondering. Had one in BG2 and he was a really nice guy

personally, i adore them.

however, everyone has likes and dislikes and way different playstyles. you can hire one ingame, so you should make a point of doing so to check him out.

I loved the monks in BG2, ac bonus, magic resistance and so on, what is great about them in wiz8! Critical hits? Will pick up the metal man when I meet him, but so far I'm experimenting with parties, 4 parties so far, none past trynton

They're basically Psionics that can go postal with their bare hands and feet as well, my new Monk is great! The NPC monk in the game is cool too but he can't use magic, so if you want to use the monk as I do, make one for your party.

Monks are great in Wizardy and BG2. My first character in BG2 was a monk and he kicked butt. Although I think my current 1/2 Orc Swashbuckler is better than the monk. Sorry for the OT.

Back to Wizardry.

RFS-81 is nice and since I had a psionic in the party and everyone one of my PCs with the exception of the Gadgeteer could cast magic I did not miss it on the monk. Another advantage of a monk is that his equipment does not weigh alot so he can carry a higher share of the party weight keeping everybodies speed up.
