Hi. My party is about 16th level in the Mt. Gigas caves. I've been using Bloodlust and Demonsbane forever. I'm pleased with Bloodlust because my Lord can go beserk with it. Anyway, I knocked down the fake wall in the Mt. Gigas caves and fought a mummy. Opening the trapped chest, I found the Sword of Four Winds. This sword is NICE. Though cursed, I gave it to my fighter and he hit for over 90 pts. of damage in a single attack. Not to mention he can go beserk. I'm very happy.

Grats Not a bad sword if you dont get lucky with a lightsword or the other nice weapons later in the game.

Up to know I never found the light sword. I did get the lightsheild but that's all. My samourai would be happy, for now he uses Fang.

A friend of mine told me that several of the Umpani sergeants, like Balbrak, have a sword of 4 winds on them, and you can get it if you have good pickpocket skill. Never tried that myself though.

Speaking of swords, and "Great Swords" in particular, is it possible to wield the Giant's Sword that the death knights drop? My insanely strong Dracon fighter can't use it, even though there are no listed restrictions in the sword's description. It's weight would seem to be a problem, perhaps? (35!)

So far, my fighter is using Fang, and my Samauri is dual-wielding the Ivory Blade and an Enchanted Wazikawi (sp?). Fighter on bezerk gets 2 to 3 hits per round and regularly scores 150 to 220 damage, although now I'm at AP this is considerably less! Samauri typically gets up to 100 damage with his multiple attacks.

Krayzkrok, there are two kinds of restrictions: class and race. When you bring up that panel, the class restrictions are shown, by default. If you click on a second tab in the upper right of the panel, the race restrictions show up. Only a Mook can wield that giant sword... that's why I'm running a Mook ranger now in my second game:)

IMO the sword is waste for a ranger, since they are specialists for ranged combat. Thats why I have a Mook Samurai in my current party. He really kicks butt with that blade. :D

I know, but I'm primarily after the extended reach of that sword, I'm not planning to tank my ranger and put him up front. Sure, the ranger's strongest trait is his ranged crits, but when the enemy is already up close and crowding you, I still think a good melee weapon will generally do better than a bow.

If a mob gets with-in range of a Giant's Sword on a ranger. Technically the sword is the better weapon to use in that scenario as the sword should do more damage than the bow since ive still yet to find anyone who uses some of the better (non - merchant sold ammo) in standard fights. But this isnt taking into account say a ranger using a triple shot x-bow who "may do equal or more dmg". It's really just what you favor in uses. Personally with a ranger i love the Giant's Sword & do find most often i do more dmg with it than a bow when soemthing comes within reach of my ranger. Plus it never hurts to work on that skill especially since rangers top out in the combat area with (ranged - bow - eagleye). That is the only skills needed in combat by a ranger using just a bow and that can easily top out on the "ranged - bow" through use & points by level 18-20. Heck i wouldnt be suprised if someone posts after me saying they've topped it out before the level i quoted. Working on swords once you have capped wont kill or harm you in anyway and it adds some difference to that of a normal (shoot - shoot - shoot = 60dmg approx.) to (swing - swing 60dmg approx.).

Simply put its a personal choice on what you prefer and im not gonna suggest you play it wrong as thier really isnt any "right" way to play a character.

It is only "Mook" figthers that can use the Giant's Sword i think!
