If i go to level 12 as a kensai then dual to a mage will my fella still be a grand master with long swords? I dont want to go that far and find out that he is only limited to mage weapons.

Hope you can help.

You keep your previous proficiency slot assignments, you just cannot access them or use a longsword until you "re-activate" your fighter-class by leveling up to level 13 as a mage.

Thanks fella.

No prob. Oh yeah, if you plan on Grand-Mastering anything, I suggest going to Baldurdash and downloading the Grandmastery patch to get the full, AD&D benefits of Grandmastery, rather than the toned down version in BG2. ESPECIALLY if on Insane difficulty.

BTW, for any soloers that read this, has anyone ever soloed a single-class Fighter on Insane through the game (SoA, and/or ToB)?

Yep, you get your weapon skills back....and not only that, but you can even add to them again. Say your Kensai had Mace++. Once you regain your Fighter half, you can continue to put points in Mace--but at the rate that a Mage would, not a Fighter.

However, if you are a fighter and dual to a cleric, you will NEVER be able to use weapons that the Cleric can't use, even if you're cleric class if above your fighter class.

If you dual a fighter into a cleric, I suggest giving the following proficiencies at the start, 3 into the "Two weapon" slot, 1 into "Flail", 1 into "WarHammer"... later, give yourself 1 into Mace

I did not know that SixofSpades, that makes my dual-class characters that I'm running take on a whole new light... perhaps a Kensai who fights with Staves dualed to a Mage... or a Fighter who masters mace and Flail and Two-Weapon dualed to a cleric...

MUAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!
