Party consists of

Lizardman Fighter
Hobbit Samurai
Fairy Ninja
Human Monk
Fairy/Elf Bishop (Can't decide race yet)

I have played with this setup before and reached around 18th level yet I want to make a few adjustments to skill allocation and iam starting again. The 2 bishops I had befre were very effective in throwing out the damage yet I felt I used 1 more than the other, so one character was being under utilised.

This being the case I was looking for opinions on if I should replace the bishop and if so what with?

The Fighter will use Excalibur/bow

The Samurai will use Lightsword/bow (I intend to do lots of reloads in bayjin for these 2 weapons )

The Ninja will be using the CoC

The Monk will be hands/(Bo or Stars)

My ranged is only covered by 2 characters is it worth the sacrifice of a bishop for a ranger? Does a Ranger's crits outstrip the Ninja/sam/monk late game?

I do not want a rogue or a priest/mage/psionic pure spell caster. I feel iam doing enuf front line hand to hand damage yet I wonder if I will feel the lack of a second spell caster later in the game if I drop the bishop in favour of another support character, say a ranger or bard?

The ninja/sam/monk will be focusing on crits and not spells so I do not expect any more spell support from these characters at all, as all their points are being channeled into melee abilities.

Thoughts?

I am running a Samuri, Fairy ninja, elf ranger, hobbit bard, one bishop alchamey/devine and one bishop wiz/psci. I have Vi (who
I force to go everywhere) and R2D2. This party is really getting good. I like two Bishops if nothing else because then I can get soul/element shield in 1 round, I can have one portal in the T'Rang teleporter and the other for temporary out of the way places, oh and to be able to cough up 2 elementals if I really need it.

I like having two bishops myself. They can split the protect/enhance duties, and so learn a few offensive spells early on. The times I tried one bishop were not very good.

2 Bishops are OK..

Bishop is the only class that can learn ALL spells from any realm. However, you should be prepared that Bishops, are slow witted and learn spells alot slower.

As a help, you SHOULD buy all the books of spells you can get your hands on. If you must, steal the books. This way, you'd be able to have the spells without leveling up to get it.

Secondly, I recommend having spells that do not need combat situation to cast, examples, Light, Heal, Stamina, etc... This way, you can practice casting these to increase your magic proficiencies.

Bishops are fairies, i mean fairies are the best bishops coz fairies are the only race with the highest starting INT and PIE.

You might want to concider not starting with two bishops, start one as a Mage for example and then change to a bishop once he's learnt all the Mage spells (much more quickly than a Bishop even if he concentrated on the same skills).

This has been discussed on another forum, link below;

Bishops are slow to develop so I took a priest as last slot and focused on all the divine stuff when my bishop did moslty the elemental part. My bishop is not nearly at full potential in Alchemy, Wizardry and Divine so I start to develop Psi (he is level 17 now). The priest his many use to heal and support the team and doesn't do much in attack. It's an excellent nurse ;)

My next party (if I play it again) will definately have 2 bishops. I like having the extra flexability and knowing you can still heal/cure or attack the enemy if one caster is incapacitated. You have to work on your skills to make it worthwhile. eg. casting knock knock many times on the door in the Arnika bank.

I will defenetly put 2 bishops in all my future parties, it is the way to go.

I dislike Ninjas and Monks though, mainly because the huge equipment restrictions. So I would take a Mook Ranger (Giants Sword - Eagle Eye Bow) instead of the monk.
