I have two books, Fire Bomb and Acid Bomb, that I want my Bishop to "read" into her spellbooks so she permanently knows them. But I'm having difficulty in that I keep getting the "Jezebel is unable to understand the writting" message.

I'll give her stats in the pertinent areas so those who know the formula can help me out:

Level: 15

Wizardry skill: 79
Alchemy skill: 39

Fire skill: 45
Water skill: 71

Now I can understand not being able to read the Acid Bomb spell, as her alchemy realm is not yet 40. But I thought, if I understood the formula correctly, was that if you are just under in the main area (alchemy), the 10% bonus to the spells element realm (water) would help push you enough to learn it? I thought for sure I had plenty of skills in Mage/Fire to learn the Fire Bomb book, as upon each level up I can choose fireball as a spell, but didn't want to waste it cause I have the book already.

Am I missing something here?

Actually acid bomb is the one you should be able to learn, not Firebomb. Both are 4th level alchemy spells - wizrdry therefore doesn;t come into the equation. Your requirements for these spells should be :
Level 8 (pure caster) - I presume that jezebel has always been a bishop (ie not a converted mage or anything - that could be your issue - need to be seen as a level 8 in all spell schools - you can carry over and keep increasing your wizardry skills when converting a mage, but all ather start at level 1).
45 in casting school - with the 10% allowance you should have a 46 skill in water, and a 43 skill in fire.

Hope this helps.

If you want a sure-fire way to help you determine which books she can read and can't, check out this thread started by Wolfie a day or two ago. He has a spreadsheet that will calculate it for you.
