I can't find/activate N Wilderness dungeon. I've done the others in the Cemetary and Mtn Wilderness. But here, I haven't been able to find any runes. There is a rock requiring a special item near the ruins. I've tried all sorts of weapons with no success. So what am I missing?

The runes here are on trees. They are more spread out than the other dungeons as well. The farthest one is on the island in the middle of the lake.

The item to open the dungeon is an ordinary short staff.

The runes are all on pine trees. Three are near the ruins where the bandits hang out. The other three are on a line NE of there, ending with the tree on the island in the lake.

Where the heck do you get a "short staff"???????? I have a quarter staff, a shillileh (spelling?), but never seen a short staff.... I even went back to all the merchants in Arnika and Buzz at the Lower monestary to see if I accidently sold it too him.... NO LUCK! I have all the runes pushed on the trees, but I don't have the staff to get into the dungeon. Completed the cemetary dungeon, piece of cake at lvl 11 chars, tried the mtn wilderness dungeon, hah, hah, hah, half way in and I couldn't unlock the doors with my lock skills, and no knock knock spell :( Oh, well thought I might try the Northern Wilderness dungeon, figured it might be a difficulty inbetween the cemetary and the mtns. But I can't find a "Short Staff". .... PLEASE HELP ME [img]smile.gif[/img]

I'm at same place as you airunman, but later in the game (level 20+). I thought I needed a sword or dagger. Now I have to trek and zap all over from here to Serenity to get a "staff". One place you might not have tried is the low level merchant past the bridge in the lower Monastery. I guess I'll be on "item hunt" for the next hour or two!!!

The only person I ever found that sold a 'short staff' was Burz so you're on the right track.

Had a similar problem when I needed a plain dagger for the cemetary dungeon. I ended up going back to Burz, who didn't have one in stock. So I camped out for a while and eventually he had one. Don't recall if I had to actually remove (purchase/steal) items from the inventory to get it to change, but I think not. However, it may speed up the process..

I stood in front of Antone and reloaded until he had one in stock.
It was time for his inventory to change (24 hours since I had last dealt with him and KHaN had told me he has them). After about three tries, viola, a short staff.
I saw one in Crock's inventory also but by then, it wasn't needed.
