I've just started soloing on insane mode with a sorcerer and am having difficulty getting past the first stage. I have just killed a mephit and then I got slaughtered by a bunch of goblins. My minor globe of invunrability does nothing, why is this?

They are attacking with swords and bows. Minor globe protects you from 1st through 3rd level spells, not physical attacks. Use stoneskin and mirror image. One area of effect spell is usually more than enough to wipe out each group. |
Is not terrible that one that is going to have great power getting whacked by a bunch of goblins. Barb give us a list of spells that you selected. I am sure some of the solo gurus out there can give you more tips.

Strength - 13
Dexterity - 16 Constitution -16 Intelligence - 18 Wisdom - 13 Charisma - 9 Spells Aromor - 6 Chromatic orb - 6 Identify - 6 Larloch's Minor Drain - 6 Magic Missile - 6 Glitterdust - 6 Knock - 6 Melf's acid arrows - 6 Flame arrow - 5 Melf's Minute Meteors - 5 Minor Globe of Invunrability - 3 What do you think? Should I change them? I'm only at the beginning so I could easily start again. Any helps appreciated, thanks! |
Nah. You don't have to change the spells, if you like them. Maybe just change your approach. Always cast Armor before your fights, then cast your MMM. That way, you have access to throw your Minute Meteors, as well as casting spells. One magic missile apiece and they should drop or be close enough to blast them with the MMM. Acid arrows and flame arrows should take them out quite nicely.

OKay cool. What is glitterdust for? I cast it and it had no affect.

Wearing a Bracers of Defence 6 gives you the same benefit, and Ribald in the Adventurer's Mart sells Bracers of Defence 3. Glitterdust - 6 Might want to get Mirror Image first. Save a few Mephits, you will not encounter many invisible units early in the game. Minor Globe of Invunrability - 3 How about Stoneskin instead? That will protect you from physical attacks like the Goblin arrows.

Stats wise and as for the other spells, they are fine. Stock up on some Potions of Insight though, if you intend to continue into ToB with your Sorcerer. |

Thanks Dundee. I'll change to Mirror Image and Stoneskin.
What about potion of Insight? What do they do? Do I keep all my items in ToB or do they dissapear when I start the game? |

This of course means that you will get to keep all your items. So remember to take everything that you want to keep, and put it in your Bag of Holding before completing SoA. |
