I've just entered the seventh bough shrine in Trynton... In the archive room, I found a group of Rapax slaughtering a Trynnie patrol. I jumped in (saving the patrol), and left to continue my quest. A little later, I entered my "relations" screen and noticed my Rapax rating was now "Hostile".

My question is: Is this going to be a problem later on? Should I have stayed out of that fight? I'd really hate to find myself locked out of parts of the game, and I'm particularly worried that the Rapax smith in Arnika will refuse to make any of his custom weapons for me. I do have a save from before the battle, so I can restore it if I need to.

Not really. There's more than one group of Rapax, as you'll discover, and you can succeed even if you annoy all the Rapaxes in the world.

In my previous game I ended up butchering 2-300 Rapax. Antone Rapax and a couple of other special cow bastards never reacted to it. So no worry.
