If memory serves.....

The monastery bell, is through the locked door from the large hall (the library).
It's not really a bell, but a machine type thing that you set to max
and start, causing bells to ring.

I entered a machine room but it said "access denied" on all the machines. I'm sure that's where you ring the bell. The room with the large glass window.

I don't think thats the right room.

It's in the room where you unlock the door using the old iron key.
The machine is a big square type thing sitting on the floor with a dial with 3 settings and a button.

PS: The room with the big glass window is the control room.
The machines that say "access denied" are computers or something and not the ones that set off the bells.
