Hi, I need help installing the latest patch. I already have winzip downloaded but I can't extract the patch to my Wizardry 8 folder. For some reason, it's not listed on my hard drive programs. I even tried dragging the patch to my Wizardry 8 icon but that didn't work. Please walk me through this. I don't want to start playing till I get this patch installed. Thanks.

Use your find files option on your start menu and do a search on Wiz8Patch, making sure it will be searching all your hard drives.
If it doesn't find it, the download probably did not complete and you'll have to download it again.

Thanks, I finally found it under program files. How will I know during the game if the patch installed properly? Any comments without spoiling? Thanks.

to be absolutely sure with NO spoilers:

browse to your main game file:

C:\Program Files\Sirtech\Wizardry 8

look for "wiz8.exe" and check the date. it should be 12/24/01, that's how the latest patch updates the main game file.

then browse to your patch file:

C:\Program Files\Sirtech\Wizardry 8\Patches

you should see "patch.001" and it should be dated 12/11/01.

if those agree, then you know for sure you have the latest patch, correctly installed. :D
