I have heard that there is a way to play the double agent that will allow you to align the two sides. I have searched all over this forum and have been unable to find out how. If someone knows, please share!

and here, too!

just remember, that most of us are still feeling our way around this situation, too :D

I think you just go to both leaders and join. But personnally, i go with the Umpani!

~~secretmaster~~

if only it were that easy. there's spies on both sides who are keeping track of you, along with a certain busy body in arnika.

discovering them and trying to figure out how to deal with them is the source of much speculation recently. LOL. i have just discovered both of them and am "dealing" with them now, but won't find out for a while still if i am discovered or not.

Having finished the game and accomplishing the peace process, I can tell you that it well worth it. Not only do you get experience from both sides while completing their requests, but at the end of the game you get more experience points for getting the two sides to share. Plus you get to destroy the Dark Savant's ship. (I have wanted to do that since Wiz 7.) And to top it all off, Heli will even give you experience for getting the two factions to talk peace.

I never found any informant on the T'Rang side. I only found the one traitor and I took care of him before he could rat me out. No one, except Heli, had any clue that I was working for both governments. Well, Screg probably figured it out since I came to him as a representative of both parties, but since all communication was through me, he probably didn't want to say anything.

Good Luck!

I never found a spy on the T'rang side either, also got rid of the Umpani spy, but I've heard that it isn't really necessary as long as you pay the certain someone with a big mouth.

My question is this: I have completed both sides up to being given the "destroy X" quests. The Mook have gotten their letters, etc.

But as far as I can say, both sides are still unfriendly to each other. Is there a specific way to get them to be friendly to each other? I tried talking to Z'Ant about an alliance, but all he replies is something about the Mooks.

I've read hints here and there that you can get the two factions to actually work together, but so far they aren't doing it.

Hints or downright spoilers welcome.

im in a jam now.

i went to trang camp just now, to see what was gonna happen and as soon as i went up to zant trang, he denounced me and i was beset by everyone there.

i have NEVER wanted to kill anyone. genocide isn't my trip. in fact, that's one of the main things i despise about the DS. if he had his way, there would be NO races left in the universe. just him and his little god-head for all eternity.
::the blonde brigade croons together:: boooo-ring! :D

here's my dilemma, i could just reload at this point, go back to the umpani and do everything their way. whatever it is. and never ever go back to the trang empire base to see what's going on. pretending i didnt know that they knew...

but i know, and it feels like cheating to me.

all right, lets say i resolve my inner turmoil and go for the "pretend it never happened" scenario.

will i be able to bring the two together and create peace in the universe? im inclined to think its messed up, whether or not i stick my head in the sand and pretend other wise.

so, how far back will i have to go to straighten things out? what causes the cashier to denounce me?

this is the order i did things in:

1) found the trang and did their first mission.
2) went to the umpani, did their first few missions.
3) went back to trang, did their second mission.
4) went to arnika and approached the mook, for both of them at the same time.

(you guys will NEVER believe this, but while i visited the UME, i found a way to actually take the Chaos Molare!! its true! i can't believe it, either.)

5) went to talk to heli and she told me that she knew i was a double agent and told me the only thing that would stop her from turning me in was giving her money.
6) was very surprised and uneasy, so i popped back over to the umpani and did a bit of snooping, and was able to discover a secret area off the commisary, and decided to take my chances with that halfwit who runs the place. hoo boy! he was definitely a traitor, so it came to blows and he ended up a gooey stain on the floor.
7) i reported the incident to my superiors there, and was rewarded and urged to report to the general who was anxious to talk to me.
8) worried about the turn of events, i TP immediately to the trang and everyone was nice until i got to zant who yelled out "SPIES!! KILL THEM!!!" :( pooh!

so, at which point did i fail?

if anyone knows, please please tell me. i have zillions of saves, so going back and redoing anything is no problem.

thanks for everything!

Go back to the point where you were on the Umpani base prior to getting marked for death by the T'Rang and kill the cashier before you leave.

That is what fixed that little problem for me.
I had payed off He'Li prior to going onto the base...don't know if that makes a difference.
I also started working for the Umpani first, but am unsure if that makes a major difference either.

Let us know if my suggestion works out for you! It seems that there are all sorts of variables regarding your situation from what I have read in posts at the RPGvault.

Good Luck!

~~moni~~

thanks for the tips :D i will try them. course as slow as i am, it will take me awhile!

oh, wait a sec... i re-read your post and am confused about two things.

***how do i know at which point i get marked by the trang? first mission? second mission? third mission?
should i just do the trang CTF mission, make my first approach about work to the umpani, then go straight to heli?

***you said you paid off heli before you went to the umpani base?
if you weren't working for them yet, how could you be a double agent and how could she know?

ps: its 435am and i prolly just misunderstood you! LOL. it wouldn't be the first time. :D

Vesselle,
when did you buy the Umpani flag for the T'rang mission? Before or after joining the Umpani?

I saw something somewhere about needing to buy the flag before you join the Umpani.

That's the only thing I can think of, I did the exact same order you did, except I think I killed the guy earlier, before I went back to T'rang after doing several Ump quests. Maybe that makes a difference too, dunno.

But I have heard (and would like some confirmation from anyone) that you don't have to kill him. As long as you buy the flag before joining. Actually, I'm sorry I did kill him if it wasn't necessary, because i got in a bind for supplies at one time and no one there to sell them!
