i coulda sworn we had an option to do that, but, now that i want to use it, i can't find it.

::sighs:: nothing against all your lovely sigs peeps, cause they really are wonderful, but lately i don't seem to have the patience to wait for them to load.

You can't turn off other people's sigs, they can turn off theirs when posting though, the only sig you can turn off is your own.

That, I would ahve to say, is one of the VERY few drawbacks to IW. A lot of the sigs are lovely, and folk obviously put a lot of time and energy into them and want to show them off. But it can make pages here load REALLLLLLLY SLOOOOOOOWLY. Would be nice if there was a way to disable them.

well, at one time, it was kinda like we didn't use them on the game forums, but only when we went into the General Discussion forums... just to make it easier on us when we were getting down and dirty with the postings. but still had a place to show them off, y'know?

but it just kinda happened, and was definitely never policy. just a little courtesy. and i didn't realize until lately what a difference it really makes, esp on a heavily trafficked board.

it's no big deal tho. esp since i help my friends make personalized sig files! LOL! i really should be the last one to ever even consider asking others not to use them.

::slaps herself with a trout::

i'm gonna shut up now, before someone thinks i'm complaining. :D

I see what you mean, in other boards I have seen those damn annoying animated gifs get up to 100k--quite a download--and the fact that they usually contain seizure-enducing flashing doesn't help either.

That's why I like to keep mine under 20k; I know what it like to have a 56k connection, especially when I usually connect at 9k. :(
