How do you defeat nightmares? I have a level 9-10 party and they just cleaned my clock. (Oh did I mention that they are blocking the road into the Swamp.) I fire off a freeze spell but they go first and cast i4i. So I reload but can't cast offensive magic. I have level 4 magic shield and all pcs are at at least 50% but before I get within melee distance 4 of my party are turncoats and I'm history again. Any suggestions?

soul shield, element shield, silence, eye for eye. if you don't have the spells, use scrolls, pots and powders bought/stolen from vendors.

plus, if you can ~ get scrolls for Insanity and Freeze Flesh or Paralyze, then it's gravy! Insanity is great! they rear each other!!

also, Slow them and Haste you. i have not had any kind of real problems with them.

if you can't do any of that... stay as far away as possible and slowly *plink* *thwack thud* away at them. (those are sound effects for archery!)
