When can I expect my fighters to get multiple attacks per combat round?

April Ryan 12-13-2001 11:39 AM

hmm... increase ur dex and speed

Virgil 12-13-2001 11:42 AM

I've noticed that high speed gives additional swings per attack. Getting a weapon skill to 50-60 gives you an extra attack.

Extra swings are good, but if the creature dies on the first swing, the second is wasted. Extra attacks can be split between multiple creatures, but they second attack comes after everyone has gone the first time.

does berserk negate the extra swings? or does berserk count as 1 swing? ive noticed my bloodlusted sammy berserks twice but i cant recall seeing another non-berserked swing with bloodlust

Emteecee 12-13-2001 12:17 PM

madmarcos, i think the only attack mode allowed by Bloodlust is berserk and you will probabbly never see anyone swing or thrust with it.

IMHO, i think the berserk attack counts as a single attack which can have multiple hits based on your dex or speed i think.

Anyone know to what values...?

Vaylord 12-13-2001 02:22 PM

Too many factors go into it to give definitive values. You have Dex, Spd, and initiative combined with the close combat skill, and weapon type skill plus whatever modifier your weapon gives to initiative and since senses also figures into initiative it must also be examined. As you can see there are far too many variables to try and back track the formula the computer uses to determine multiple swings. If you really want a hard number ask the developers for the formulas the game uses and then nput what you have. Personally I just decide what my character needs and go with it. Sorry but this is all I can tell you.

To me, that's something that should be adjusted in a patch. I mean
if the character has other targets in range of his/her weapon, why
not let the character switch targets and use the rest of his swings
on the new target.
It really lowers the impact of skills like lightning strike to get a
6x attack going and have the creature die on the 2nd attack, especially
since the character triggers the attack on his/her own.

Berserk - Always go berserk. My fighters get 2 attacks per round each with 2-4 swings per attack. It is common for each fighter to deal out 200 points of damage per round. Not many creatures can withstand a beating like that

Syrin 12-13-2001 02:59 PM

BTW - you get your second attack when you reach level 50 in a specific weapon. One of my fighters has a 60 in bow and gets 2 attacks per round with 2 shots per round with his heavy crossbow as well
