I must be missing something but it seems she only uses a sling in battle. How come when I switch to the mace or the spear she auto switches back to the sling. Must be something simple that Im missing.

What part of the formation do you have her in? Sounds like she is too far back or on the sides to use short range weapons.

I have her to my left flank with a Spear and a Bow that way she can reach out and touch the distant dangers and still reach foes in front of the party with the spear.


Change her position or change her weapons

Yeah, she defaults to the back of the party, where the only thing she can use is a sling. Change her position to the middle or front or sides using the formation editor, but only outside of combat. I noticed that formation changes in combat usually don't "stick" afterwards.

That is by design. Changes made during combat are assumed to be temporary; those made outside of combat are permanent.
