Copying from a previous post...
There is nothing wrong with 'cheating' a game-critical item like this. I keep saying this, but nobody seems to listen. What you consider cheating may be totally different from someone elses definition. The only rule is: play the game in the way YOU enjoy it, whether that involves cheating or not. I'll tell you this: if I need stuff Identified and I haven't got enough lore for it, no way in hell am I going to pay 100 gp per Identify or wait until I get across a Scroll; I just cheat some Identify scrolls into my inventory. I'm not ashamed of it; it doesn't make me omnipotent in the game, it doesn't ruin the gaming experience, in fact, it increases my enjoyment of the game because it's so easy. The important part here seems: it doesn't matter how you play the game, as long as you enjoy it!! And since most people won't enjoy a hacked-up game where all characters wear Rings of Gaxx and have 25 in all stats anyway, you don't have to worry about it. Personally, I can get a hell of a lot more annoyed by a bunch of holier-than-thou cheat-police officers who walk about saying cheating is the devil, than by people who edit small things in their game to increase gaming pleasure. Just my 2c anyway ;) |
I draw a fine line between cheating to save time or to settle a bug, as compared to cheating in an item that is not allowed legitimately( like having Crom Faeyr in Chapter 1, rightttt...)
I mean hey! I use the Ctrl+8 function to hasten my Character Creation, but no way in Hell am I going to play with a character that has 18 in all stats, I lower them down to what I feel is okay. |
I've never cheated. It's annoying because sometimes I really want to but can't bring myself to do it.

I cheated from time to time. But mostly whenever a bug hit. That Nishruu bug gave me no small order of headaches. Damn thing eating swords for crying out loud. Imho, it's allright to cheat if a bug hits you or if you somehow dropped an item in an area you can not go back to and you really need that item (like a key).
But, as stated before. You are the only one that can make that decision. |
I almost never cheat, only in the most dreaden occasions. But I have always said: "If the game lets you do it, it's not cheating" ;)

As someone posted
We all have our own ideas of cheating Using shadowkeeper and stuff is cheating to me and is lame..... Using an easy method of killing something that is sorta exploitive canbe considered cheating Im sure roleplayers will consider somethings a form of cheating that others will just consdider makign the game easier Not wanting to pay 100 measly gold pieces and to rather cheat and force the game to give you stuff....well no comment I never use cheats/hacks/passwords or anything like on any games Ive ever played that I can think of So BG is no different and its not the hardest game in the world Some people are just lazy and cheats |
