I just found Puck's Cap which gives 10% verses Earth Spells +3 AC +10 Music -10 Piety, but it is cursed. Since a Bard doesn't need Piety, not a big deal (I think). Does anyone know if there are any unseen, unknown effects connected to cursed items (other than not being able to remove them?

My bard is wearing the Puck's Cap and it doesn't seem to be hurting her performance. Piety does determine stamina to some degree, which the bard requires a lot of to use the instruments, so it's was a tradeoff early levels on when her stamina was low though.
If a cursed weapon is used, then the char cannot swap to a long range weapon, so there is a bit of a limitation there.. --- So how does one become a member of the Illuminati anyway, eh? Is it a forefather thing? ;) |
Hello Skywalker!
[img]graemlins/ladyhearts.gif[/img] I had the non-sense to equip a powerful cursed weapon once recently and the character kept taking a damage until we got it off of him (via reload lol) |
A powerful cursed weapon? Faust Halberd?
I LOVE that weapon, I usually keep it in the alternate slot of Vi's inventory.. When something truly nasty creeps up, I switch her to it.. A quick Remove Curse from my priest, and it's back in the Alternate slot again. |

The Illuminati is (was?) a group created as a little joke by Diogenes of Pumkintown. It includes a number of members who share a political viewpoint at General Discussions or the War Forum. We are (were) Dio, Silver Cheetah, G-Kar, Fljotsdale, Tracey, Kaz, Dragon Mage, Reeka, and me. You may still see a reference to the Illuminati on the signature line of the members. It was sorta to poke fun at the clans I think. Back on topic okay? Moni (Hi Sweetheart)! Do all cursed items cause damage? |

No, Mark. I had equipped someone with a poison dagger once and it just kept the character from being able to switch weapons. :D Tedium, Not Faust Halberd. ;) |
Most cursed weapons have only the drawback of not being able to unequip them (so you can't switch to a bow/sling when monsters are at a distance). You can still throw bombs and powders and such, though, so it's not TOO much of a drawback in most cases.
A few are cursed so you can't remove them AND they take away from a stat or damage you like the Polearm that was mentioned. I was using 2 Thieves Daggers on my Rogue (Cursed, but NICE damage daggers), but switched to stillettos. They do less damage but have a higher instant kill %. |
Hi,
Some of the best weapons are cursed, like Poison Daggers and Thieves Daggers. Bloodlust is one such, but equiping it prevents my Fighter from using his Bow, so I didn't find much use except in a big fight. I did find the Staff of Doom, and in this game is seems all harmful side affects are listed. However, I've found a few items that give you a +1 Health regeneration, which will counter-act the affects of the -1 HP drain from the staff. Its a powerful weapon, one of the most powerful I've seen yet, so it some cases, its worth it! Best Scronan |
Cursed weapons have been around since Wizardry I: Proving Grounds. As it said in the old manuals, "don't worry too much about cursed items...some of the best items in the game like to 'stick around.' ;) " )
The Faust Halberd and the Doom Staff do cause HP drain, but as was said earlier, there are regeneration amulets, et al, that will counteract this. -Sazerac |
