A Time For Reflection

The temple is a good place to reflect on many things, but reflection was not on my mind when I ran into one. Or rather when my shadow ran into a reflection. I was wandering around the lower section of the temple, following a hardy group of adventurers, when they ran into a locked door. Their bard, a skillful locksmith, was able to quickly open the door and everyone walked on through. I followed closely when *Wham*, I felt like I had run into something. The doorway was completely open, but I could not make it through. I tried many things, but could not figure out why I was blocked when the group I was following had no difficulty. I was still trying to get through the door when they came back. I watched in amazement as they walked back through the door with ease. It was Mishook, their ranger who noticed my trouble and quickly saw the cause. He pointed out to me the doorway being reflected by the shiny tile and that my shadow was blocked by this amazing reflection.

As you can tell, the door was open but the reflection shows the door closed. My shadow was bumping its (my) nose on the door that wasn't there. (I have to tell you that even a shadow bumping my nose on a reflection can be quite painful.) After some experimentation (all of it painful), we closed the door. To my wonder, the reflection showed the door was completely open!

Again they had me try going through the door, but this time it was my real self that bumped my nose on the door. (Again a painful experience.) Mishy, always the philosophical one, showed me that he could walk through the solid door without harm because his shadow had a clear path. "Reality is just an illusion," he told me. "If you can control the illusion, you can bend reality to that illusion and do all kinds of wondrous things."

Lord Braffit, when told about these events, refused to believe it. "Nothing but rumors," he said, "And I refuse to believe in rumors." We offered to show him, but he merely looked uncomfortable, rubbed his nose, and declined, saying that he really had more important things to do upstairs.

After deciding that anything worthwhile had been picked up by the group, I decided to leave this temple, reflecting on reality, illusion and a painful nose. And so, my friends, I leave you to digest these facts and allow you the privilege of reflecting on the reality of illusion, the illusion of reality and the nonsense in between. May your reflections be less painful than mine.

Believe it man its true.

Sidenote: Braffit hasn't been forthcoming at all with information LOL. However, I'm not sure how, but he's helped my party in combat a few times when fighting near the temple, even though he wasnt near the battle. Somehow he can cast things like Slow on beasties despite the walls separating him from the battle. Hmm... Perhaps Lord B knows more than he's letting on?
