Does anyone here use poser or daz studio? I have poser 3, which is to say that I don't have much . I've also been using daz studio. I hope to do some character small pictures, but since my budget is exactly $0.00, I've been very slowly making crappy armor.
A while back, one of our artists was using poser to do small pics...I can't remember his name- Lord-something I think. They were pretty decent. Just wondering if anyone else is or has thought about doing this. -manikus |
Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that if you're intested in trying out daz studio, it is available for free at their site- www.daz3d.com

Well, this is exactly the kind of thing I been looking for!!!! I just DL-ed the Daz studio.
Thanks Manikus!!! SilentThief |
Also available at Daz are Michael 3 and Victoria 3- for free. (They've got a lot of quality stuff in their freebie section as well.)
Also, check out the Sixus1 site for some more free figures, including Behemoth- http://www.poserfreebies.com/ Another important site with quality figures is http://www.philc.net/ -manikus |
Well, now that this seems to be working again for me (some error loading the page last time I tried...)
Anyhow, I tried to post a reply (to this msg thread) about DAZ Studio. I think the program is great!!! I have only just gotten into the (rather LARGE) tutorial, so I haven't done much yet. I was wondering if Manikus has done any pics yet, tho. The program rox!!! I just hope I can make my own props (weapons, armor, ect) instead of buying them from the company that made DAZ. I have some pics- but not in DC format yet. I'm still learning how to set up the lighting, which is really hard b/c the preview screen and the rendered pic are vastly different on my system (the render is much, much brighter). I did just get a pretty nice looking picture from TwilightKing, though. So, there are at least three of us working on Daz Studio. :D
If you haven't already, check out the freebie section at the Daz site and the "freepozitory" forum there as well. Renderosity has something like 7000+ freebies for poser which will work with Daz Studio. (Sure, there's almost nothing as far as what you're looking for, but there are a bunch of pretty good swords and axes.) I'm working on armor props, and if I get anything halfway usable, I'll post on my site. -manikus |
Ya know...I don't think I looked at any tutorial. ;) I'm going to go find it now. I can use all the help I can get.

So how R U making props? Do you need poser? Or is there some way with DAZ?
Ya know, I just hadda thought about this that makes a lot of sense. We DO have a 3D imaging msg board here at I-Works... perhaps we should look over there. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...ubb=forum;f=30 SilentThief [ 02-19-2005, 12:44 PM: Message edited by: SilentThief ] |
In regards to the tutorial, I had asked a question about that in the DAZ forum; and they said the adobe file that is the tutorial is out of date; but a good way to start is the quick start tutorial that comes with the DL of DAZ.
And as for making pics for DC, I figure they won't directly port; so I'm thinking unless I try to do a movie (which DAZ lets you do and it might port in a standard movie format...), I'll simply use a screen capture util that comes with GIMP. SilentThief |
D'oh! I always forget about it...I have my shortcut set to go to the gaming forums.
You can not make models in D|S but you can in Poser, but only basic shapes. I do all of my modelling in a third program, Milkshape 3D and export them as .obj files to be imported into D|S. -manikus |
