If you die during a combat, but your friendly monsters will kill everyone else, you will still be able to collect treasure and you'll be back in the dungeon (not sure about overlands). You can still move, but you die after you do one step.

It's a bug, sure that it has been addressed before.

BTW-Don't give up hope on an answered question. The DC board tends to go through periods of inactivity, when suddenly there will be a surge in posts, replies, etc.
