I work a job that allows me plenty of time to think (which can be a good or a bad thing), and some of the thoughts that ran thru my head went something like this:
With all the many multiple myriad manifestations (try saying that 5 times fast) of characters, wouldn't it be nice to have a program that allows you to create characters. WHAT? you say... Doesn't DC DO THAT??? yes, but... Creation of mages and the magic system is in the works right now, wouldn't it be nice to do a little extra work on the magic creation side, namely using the wizard schools and priestly spheres of magic for creating specialist wizards and priests. I would love to have the ability to pick a necromancer, an evoker, or a conjurer as possible characters to play. Now, Illusionists are a different story, as I don't think even with the awesome capabilities of DC, could an illusionist be a playable character. How about using the 5 or 6 different ways of rolling up characters as discussed in the players handbook? And perhaps the ability to use combat modifiers. WHAT?? you say... What does he mean by this??? Only that with modifiers for combat done right could lead to weapon proficiencies. (I had thought that by creative use of quest variables, you could use non-weapon proficiencies easily enough). Just one more thing, I had an idea that I thought would be nice. Lets say I was making an adventure, exclusively for a party of pre-generated characters (for the purpose of the story of the adventure), and at separate times I wanted separate characters to be playable. This might (i say might) be possible with creative use of quest events, the only thing I was wondering is this, with the "add/remove NPC" could that event possibly be used to "add/remove PC"? For example, you play as "Johann" for the first part, finish the first part; play as "Tatyanna" to finish out the second part, and then play as both for the end. I realize that you could have a quest variable set up to check this sort of thing, like not letting you advance if you have "Johann" in the party, but I was wondering about an event that would not require you to stop the game and manipulate the party to continue. Just some thoughts from the mind of SilentThief |
I just wanted to reply to your point about specific spell schools to learn, and since you play DC and appreciate more in depth rpg's I recommend ToME. Sik sik game modified from augband. Check http://www.t-o-m-e.net
If you know how to use scripting you can do more too it aswell. (i don't) What would really make my day, is if you could have parties in ToME, but currently you can only play with 1 character unless online(multiplaya). |
Sorry dont have a clue what you two boys are on about.
