Hi, I am creating and using new walls but am not quite sure if I'm doing everything correctly. I'm using the Ezwall editor to get my main imaged formatted(chopped up) to be properly used within DC( I didn't read the help files thoroughly either =/ , I skimmed.).

I have a few walls made and already in place. Some of my walls however have mirrors on them. If I'm looking at one wall with the mirror on it, the next wall seems to have one too. I'm looking at the mirrored wall from two steps back. No other adjacent walls have mirrors yet it seems as if they do. Is this common?

I don't know what else to say to explain it better.
OOOXOOO
IIIIIII
IIIIIII
IIIMIII

If the above little diagram is aligned right when it's submitted, The O's are walls without mirrors while X is the one with a mirror on it. M is where I am, and from my spot, I see quite a few mirrors where the O's are at. I's are empty spaces. only the two adjacent walls to the X show the mirrors almost as bright as day.

I'd appreciate it if I could get a brief explanation if ya can on how it works. If it's one of those complicated things, then don't worry about me trying to figure it out, I won't =p...
I just felt like I needed to bring it up in case it's not suppose to be like this...though something inside is telling me the reply back is gonna say it's normal.

I'm enjoying the program too btw. Too much versatility for a noobie though. Got tons I wanna do with it yet I have to make walls and that even takes ALOT of time. Got to get into learning overlays and then incorporating gifs(also finding decent programs to do it with). Hopefully by then, the combat system will be further enhanced so I can make a progressive step into scripting.

Thanks for reading.

hi there!
i'm probably not the best to answer this, but it looks like i am the first.
i recently had this problem with an arch wallset that i had made...from two steps back, it would appear as if there were three arches next to each other, instead of just the one that i had placed (ala your diagram).
this is just the way that dungeon craft shows the walls. i don't know if richard can fix this, or if it's something that can be addressed in a configuration file.

i take it that you've been to the main dungeon craft page and to ironworks; but i thought i'd mention the addresses of some other sites with walls.
my site is http://www.geocities.com/manikus5/dc/index.html
joerg weber has some at http://www.dreamlands.de/ua-frame.htm
jeremy dore at http://members.optusnet.com.au/~jeremy77/index.html
lord killjoy at http://lordkilljoy.topcities.com/
and the magic mirror in the dungeon craft (dc) section http://www.frua.dns2go.com/ (there are some really good star wars walls here )

hope this helps. :D

Great,

The work I'm doing is mediocre so it doesn't warrant any special attention to detail. I'm doing it for experience more than anything else. I am also going to post up some of my "walls" once I get back into creating my website - got ev1.net and they offer 300 megs of space. (forgot all the little ways to make tables and am finding that spacing of pictures and text is even a challenge)

I've already checked out your site and Killjoy's also. Great stuff. Will have to see the other ones too. I have a theme in mind since I thought it was a simple one...but turns out it's getting way more complicated than it first appeared to be. Right now I'm seeing how long it will hold my interest before I just give it up, but I'll share the idea in another post.

Keep up the great work guys and thanks for replying.

Try loading the mirror as a door layer, with the wall layer separate. I think that will solve the repeat problem. The walls/overlays get repeated as needed to fill gaps, while the doors do not. It's the UA does it too.

There is a guy who has started to work out a format that uses 7 distant walls rather than 5. This would create a better perspective and avoid the repeated walls. This format is still under construction though.

I had the same problem with doors. Richard's advice worked ok.

Where is the guy? He's not living up on a mountain or something is he?

CocoaSpud 02-27-2002 09:12 AM

Kevin's the guy, but like most folks he is busy with other things and tinkers with DC when he gets the chance. It's a tedious thing to create a new wall format, and the 7 wall layout had more difficulties than the standard 5 wall layout.
