Hello everyone,
i have tried to create a healing potion. For the potion i ve used the cure light wounds spell. The spell is working fine for a cleric, but it if i create an item with this spell and a warrior tries to use it, nothing happens. The item lose his charge but the spell is not cast. Is there a way to create magical items and potion for not spellcasters ? It would be really useful. Keep up your great Work. I am really enjoying your editor. It will be really awesome, if the magic and combat stuff is really working. By the way, it would be useful to see changes at damage bonuses and protections and so on in the character screen. Perhaps an additional Statuscreen for the characters ? |
You have tried something I haven't attempted yet http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif So far I've just been using spells with clerics and magic-users, no items. It will eventually be working with items too. I'm surprised you got it partially working already.
There is a spell status page for characters that displays the spells which are currently active for that character. Are you asking for a way to see which individual stats are affected by spells? ------------------ CocoaSpud Dungeon Craft Development Team http://uaf.sourceforge.net |
Correct it would be a great Help if i could see the changed stats.
If i change the hitpoints or strength thats no problem but a damage bonus would be a different matter. If one could see the change it would be much simpler to see if magic spell or effect is working nicley or not. Thanks for your reply and keep up your great work. |
Would displaying the altered stat in a different color be sufficient, or maybe displaying the modified stat with a '(+1)' next to it (assuming a +1 bonus), or something else?

Go for both options, I have a feeling that that is what the gold box games did anyway. At least displaying them anyway, changing color would be good, it would draw your attention to it automatically.
If you put on an unidentified girdle of giant strength you look bigger instantly, so, why not show it on the stats, and highlight it so it stands out just as much as all your new muscles!! Cheers Jeremy |
Both of those should be fairly easy and will be done.

Hello, all. I'm going to throw a suggestion for the stats modified by magic idea. For example, If you down a potion of storm giant strength or you get stupified by (cant recall name of it...) the spell that reduces you INT and WIS to 3. So, in the years of DND playing I did as a youngin we had two sets of stats, your Current Str, Int, Wis; ect. And your Permanent Str, Int, Wis, ect...
But, if that requires re-inventing the wheel then maybe its too tedious. |
Hello Cocaspud,
it would be really great to see the changed stats. I 've looked into magic stuff and where are quite a lot variables you can change. When you are writing the code for the changed stats, it would be really great if you could show the stats for lock picking, detect noise, find traps, remove traps, hide in shadows and so on in the character screen. In the paper modules you could write a background for your character and special weapons, it would be really nice to have something like that in Dungeoncraft. Thanks for your efforts and a great hug for your great work. |
Someone else was asking for a 'Details' type of button for characters/items. I guess the character details can display more stats that are usually displayed on the current stat screen. Perhaps display the unmodified scores, thief skills, and so on.

Yeah such a Button in the Character Screen would be great. I would also like a Field for a personal History of the Character/Weapon.
Perhaps you could an Journal in which one could add Information about a Quest. One could fill the Journal automaticly with informations which are written then one create the module, perhaps a text field which is transfered into the Journal when you accept a Quest. Perhaps you could automatically protocoll fights against different monsters, such a thing was done in an computer game Das schwarze Auge (Realms of Arcania) Sternenschweif. Such Informations gives an Adventure much more depth. I would like to know what the others think about it. Thanks for your great Game. Grunt |
