Put BG back in to see if maybe I'll finish it this time... and came across something interesting in the Nashkel Carnival. Yrademord came up with something similar a while ago, but...

After besting the wizard who was attacking... Bantha, I think her name was, I looted the body and left the tent. At least, I *think* I looted the body. Went back in, and she was back, along with the body. All the treasure respawned... gold, scrolls, knave's robes, and more.

Repeated, and she was back again... and again... and again... and... well, you get the picture. I'm still cash-poor in the game so... :D

Discovered a couple of things...

1. It lasts until you save the game. After that, everything stops respawning.
2. You can carry a lot of knaves robes...
3. The first batch that you sell can all be sold for 300. The remaining batches can be sold for 120. Quite a drop in price from flooding the market...
4. Same goes for the scrolls. First batch you sell is worth 250 for 5. Succeeding batches are 100.
5. Head to another town, and the first batch is 300 (or 250) again... :D

I'm playing just BG and TotSC. Patched, to what I assume is current (I installed it a while ago). Yrademord came across this in the tent with the two potions, which I haven't checked yet. It may happen there again as well.

Anyone else notice this? I didn't see any reference to it in searching the forum, but I may have searched poorly.

so do you have to kill the mage every time? i remember it being quite difficult for a new player to the game. had to re-load a few time to kill him IIRC.

Nope. He's lying in a nice pile in the corner every single time. Right where I killed him.

so did the mage actually kill her? and she respawns? or she didn't in fact die?

I think Bungleau is saying she was killed and it is only her dead body, and her loot that respawns.

Nope. Here's what happened.

I killed the mage. I talked to her after it was done. Took the "aw shucks" response and got the heroic might potion. She disappeared. I looted the body of the wizard and the three bookcases. Left the tent.

Realized that I wasn't sure I'd actually looted the wizard's body.

Went back in. She was standing there again, and the wizard's body was back where he'd dropped. Talked to her, got another potion. Looted the wizard's body and three bookcases again, got more stuff. Left.

Went back in... she's standing there again. Try the "magic trinket" response, get a cure poison potion. Loot. Leave.

Repeat. And repeat. And repeat. And... by now, I've figure out I'm in a bug of some sort, but I'm so cash-poor I don't care too much ;)

As soon as I saved the game, the bug stopped. I reloaded the previous save (just after having killed the wizard), and the bug worked again.

I had to sell knave's robes in three different places to get rid of them all. But man, did it help my cash flow...
