Normally, I get my fill of reading the Credits to BG1 simply by beating the game, but this time I wanted to review the 'division of labor' between BioWare and Interplay. So I started up BG1, went into the Movies menu, and hit 'Credits.' And then I was astonished....not by what I read, but what I heard.
Please, try it for yourself. I wonder if different results are to be had from different versions of the game. [music]Do you hear what I hear?[/music] |
With BG + Totsc on my latest patch version, I got a mix of some of the musics, all available in the game. Was it that special? ;)

Hm. I was rather hoping to get more responses, but I guess that either this board is very close to dead, or everybody else got the in-game music too, and decided that echoing your post would be redundant.
I, too, have ToSC and the patch, but I think the key point is that I did a full install: I always got the in-game music before, too, but this is my first full install, and I also noticed that during the credits, my computer was reading the hard drive, not the CD. Anyway, what I heard: A Battle of the Rappers between Tiax and an Amnish Soldier (possibly Bardolan). All set to a kicky, hip-hop soundtrack. Awesome. Personally, I think Tiax's song was better, but of course a lot of that's his personality. Chalk these up with DJ B-Bad Bons's 'Irenicus: "Redeem This"' mix. Tiax rules! Make way! Tiax rules! Make way! Haaahahahahaaa!! Smart guy dies, but Tiax goes ON ta RULE! Blast you! Tiax will slap ya silly! Has Tiax mentioned he's going to rule? AaaaAAAAHHH!! AaaaAAAAHHH!! BOOM! He RULES! Heheheh. |
I'll give it a try right away!
EDIT: Yup I found it, only with the credits accessed via the menu. But remember, clicking it will make Tiax hear ya. :D [ 01-06-2006, 07:47 AM: Message edited by: JrKASperov ] |
Funnily enough, I actually only found out about these great little tracks via a website offering them for download whilst searching for Baldurs Gate remixes. :D The only other one I found at the time was a sweet little piano remix at VGmix.com.
Those Tiax quotes are freakin' hysterical. It was even made funnier by the fact that in my last run through the game, I had my first experience with using him in chapter 6. Dropped him for Jet Laya then finished Darkside, then promptly picked him up again and finished a couple of Ulgoth beard's quests and the game. Considering that most of my party other than the PC was Chaotic Good or Neutral, hearing their reactions to the EgoMania of TiaxDom was fantastic. Ya Little Monkeyspanker! Boom! He rules. Hehe. Gets me everytime. I'm going to have to try him in BG2 now. I wonder if he and Jan Jansen have any jokey banter? |
I don't think you can get him in BG2 unless there's a mod
|
Much as I loved the "Has Tiax mentioned that he rules?" line, I think I preferred the Amnish soldier's rap. The music is very much like Tangerine Dream, which has good associations for me, and I couldn't stop laughing when he did his 'Taxi Driver' bit.

Yep. Pretty funny stuff. Despite the fact that I knew Tiax was a rapper at heart, I was surprised when I heard his death screams during the rap...
Tiax Rules! Make Way! AGAHAGHAH! |
i can't seem to get them... :( i have bg and tosc installed, but all i can seem to access are the movies which give me a BSOD when i attempt to watch them. does it matter if you're patched or not? or am i just too blonde?
