Yes, for some reason, lately i've had this urge to watch them all again. There is something about ridiculous hype that influcences my own judgements and expectations to a point where I can't properly enjoy a good film until it's a bit old and the excitment has died down. Just me, I guess.
So anyways, I watched them all again and really got to appreciate the trilogy the second time 'round, but I have some questions. Some of which may be horribly obvious and others a bit more obscure. If any of you Matrix fans can shed some light on my these questions i'd appreciate it. Here goes.. 1) What exactly was Neo? A hacker? What was he looking for exactly...did he know what the matrix was before Trinity found him? And why was Morpheus searching for him but unable to find him? Couldn't he just hack into the matrix and select him easily? Confusion. 2) What is the Architect? Is he a machine projecting himself into the matrix? Or is he a program created by the machines? He talks like he is in a position of authority but if he's just a program wouldn't that be kinda risky for the machines? 3) What is the Oracle? I know she's a program since she told Neo this, but her answers were of course, very cryptic. The Architect referred to her as an intuitive program who stumbled upon the idea for the matrix. So she was a program the served the machines but went rogue or something? He calls her the "mother" of the matrix. What is her deal? 4) The final battle with Neo and Smith. At the end Smith says what the Oracle told Neo. So, the Oracle was inside him just *pretending* to be assimilated and that's why she stayed in her kitchen and had let Smith get her, right? He never actually assimilated her at all. 5) What is the story with the kid and the "exiles". Are these just rogue programs that are on the run like the Keymaker? If so, what was the little kids function? I thought her "father" made her...somehow. 6) Why did the Architect tell Neo he'd be destroyed if he didn't return to the source by "tonight"? Just a simple lie or was there something more behind this? The Oracle scoffed when Neo mentioned it, is all. 7) What was with the gold lights when Neo died in the machine world? And that angelic shape that took form, I know there was a message of harmony there but was that all it signified? |
Animatrix. That's what you're looking for. And it's too late for me to answer the questions that the Animatrix doesn't cover. Later.

Yeah I had considered this but I amn't big into anime and it hurts sometimes to watch it...

Animatrix isn't anime. Well, not all of it. The Final Flight of the Osiris is entirely CGI, and is packed with more emotion and acting talent than the entire trilogy. I think only half of Animatrix is anime, the rest is in other styles, including CGI.
Your questions will all be answered if you watch the Animatrix shortly after watching the movies and paying attention. In short: Neo is a hacker, Morpheus is too but it's impossible to hack into the Matrix, only broadcast inside it. The Architect is the father of Matrix, the maker of all things inside. Why would it be risky for the machines? The oracle is the mother of the Matrix. Yes, she went rogue, because she believed humans and machines can live happily ever after. Smith most definitely took over the Oracle. Sati? She's a program, created by her father. She is just getting installed into the Matrix as we meet her. Smith. Gold angel lights? I honestly have no idea what you're talking abouts. Then again, some moron stole my Matrix DVD collection and I haven't seen the movies in a few months. |

The Architect. Well since the Oracle went rogue imagine if he did. One program that created the thing can so easily uncreate the thing. Risky. If Smith took the Oracle over how was she then back once again at the end though? Wouldn't she be "lost forever" if he took her over. Just wondering. Sati is a program created by a rogue program then? Since she is being smuggled in. You know at the end when Neo dies (or does he?) and the machines are all kinda carrying him it looks like a funeral march and you see the code of the matrix and it's pure gold with the light being brightest at his body...I could almost make out a shape that I fancied was an angel. |
Hmm... Architect going rogue... I think the Architect is kinda dependant on the Matrix, so he can't just pull the plug, but I see what you're thinking.
And about the Oracle, think of it as a Server Reset. The city isn't devastated, everyone's alive, the nuclear reactor didn't go boom etc. Sati is there to show you that humans and machines aren't that different. Their Indian origin further illustrates the point with the smuggling bit. Ah, those "lights". That's NeoVision Can't remember if it was an angel or not, but I don't think so. |
Animatrix makes the whole story make sense, and is an awesome watch, even if you don't like Anime ;)

I hate anime with a passion and loved the Animatrix.

I don't know anything about Animatrix. Is it a spin off movie?
