Forgive me if this has been addressed, but I've done a rather exhaustive (for me) search in several FAQ's on other sites, and throughout this Forum's posts, but I have found no information on a HORRIFIC fight I had on my hands East of Beregost - not in the Temple, but in the vestibule next door...

I spoke to one of the 2 guards in the vestibule who said he sensed evil in the vicinity. When the dialogue ended, a Death Knight (named Ranthis) appeared along with 2 very tough skeleton guards. They made mincemeat of my level 5-6 party. I had to use Shadowkeeper to boost all my resistances to 100, so I defeated them and got the sword "Havok" from the knight along with 11,000 xp. When I talked to Keldath in the temple, he congratulated me but said that a greater adversary awaited somewhere to the East, and I haven't pursued him yet.
None of this appears in the journal, but the latter demon was named something long and vaguely Germanic (I call him Lieberfraumilch, for you "wine" enthusiasts, but his real name was about that long and started with a "Lau").

Does anyone have any experience with this? I do have BG and TOTSC installed, along with TUTU and a few WEI Mods - like the short slime quest, the Grey Clan, Sirine's Call, Finch, and The Vault (items pack), but none of their ReadMe's suggest this encounter. As I said, my party is Level 5-6 and we are still in Ch.3 (finished Nashkell, but haven't gone to Cloakwood). I have PC, Minsc, Ajantis, Safana, Dynaheir and Finch, but none of them tried to interact during the sequence so the Demon Knight doesn't seem to rely on one of their scripts.

Any help would be appreciated.

i have played this game many times over, but never actually finished it, the last time, i got till the end of chapter 6 in the cave thing after the catacombs, but then the save file got messed up, but anyway, i never encountered those guys and probably no one else has either maybe its cause of all your mods. So basically i was no help to you.

The demon Ranthis is part of the Vault mod and involves a mini quest if you can beat the demon. Good luck, I tried 6 times to beat this boss and failed.

ElfBane-Thanks for the answer. After a careful re-read of the Vault ReadMe, I do see The Vestibule miniquest listed.
Haven't faced the big demon yet - I'll tell you if I find a way to beat him.
