Without looking at the books (nnnng)
1. There are seven Kingdoms in Westeros. What families rule each of the seven Kingdoms and where is their seat of power? (as of the beginning of Book 1) (EDITED because I forgot to include the cities) The North: The Starks, rom Winterfell The Vale: The Arryns, from the Eyrie Dorne: the Martells, from Sunspear The Reach: The Stormlands: The Riverlands: The Tullys, from Riverrun The Rock: the Lannisters, from Casterly Rock Iron Islands: The Greyjoys, from Pyke 2. Name all the people who have been king since the beginning of book 1. Been king, or been *a* king? Robert Baratheon Stannis Baratheon Renly Baratheon Joffrey Baratheon Tommen Baratheon I'm omitting Robb Stark and Balon Greyjoy, as they only claimed to be Kings of their own kingdoms and not Kings of all Westeros. 3. Name the direwolves: Robb: Grey Wind Jon: Ghost Sansa: Lady Arya: Nymeria Bran: Summer Rickon: Shaggydog 4. Who killed - Some of these are pretty major spoilers, so: * * * * * * * * * Jon Arryn: Lysa Arryn Robb Stark: Roose Bolton The Red Viper: Gregor Clegane Joffery Lannister: The Tyrells, or possibly even Cercei Lannister (not sure exactly who) Robert Barathorn: A boar, aided and abetted by Lancel Lannister, kind of Ser Mandon: Pod Payne 5. Technically who is the rightful king of the realm? In my opinion? Jon Snow. 6. How were the Wights released? The wildlings under Mance Rayder's command raided their tombs and stirred them to life. 7. Identify these house shields: A mockingbird: 'House Littlefinger'. Petyr's personal shield, the mockingbird, is different from the Baelish family shield, that escapes me for the moment. A lion: Lannister A stag: Baratheon A three headed dog: Clegane A direwolf: Stark A chain with green flames: A ship with an onion on it's sail: Seaworth A sun with a spear: Martell 8. Name the 3 dragons belonging to Dany and who they were named after. Er... Balerion... bah. Named after members of the Targaryen family. 9. What do these people have in common at one time or another? Qhorin Halfhand, Sandor Clegane, Jamie Lannister I'm going to go out on a limb and say: they've all been attacked or struck by one of their brothers at one point or another (Qhorin by Jon, Sandor by Gregor, and Jaime by Tyrion) 10. Which house has the words... We do not sow: Winter is coming: The Starks - there's a nobrainer Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken: 11. Jon Snow is the Nine hundred and ninety ninth lord commander of the Nights Watch. [ 07-27-2005, 11:11 PM: Message edited by: Tancred2001 ] |
Just some random notes to Tancred's admirable effort:
The Reach: Tyrells, Highgarden The Stormlands: Baraethon, Storm's End Jon Arryn: Lysa Arryn, aided by Littlefinger Robb Stark: Roose Bolton, though who shot the actual quarrels? Joffery Lannister: <s> The Tyrells, or possibly even Cercei Lannister (not sure exactly who) </s> -- No, wrong, Tyrion admitted it to Jaime, he did it. [Edit: Didn't Petyr Baelish try to take credit for some of the happenings at Joff's wedding? I know he claimed credit for the dwarf knights. Also, when Sansa asked why he'd want to kill Joff, he said: "I had no motive. Always keep your foes confused. Sometimes the best way to baffle them is to make moves that have no purpose…Remember that when you come to play the game of thrones." ] So, it looks like 2 people may be taking credit. Technically who is the rightful king of the realm? Dany, a trueborn Targaryen. Jon if he had been recognized. The Baraethon rule is contested until all Targaryen's are dead if I understand their culture right. If we look to the Baraethon line instead, either Stannis or Robert's heir, I admit I don't know which would take precedent. Regarding Robert's heir, Gendry is not a recognized heir, so Robert's bastard that Stannis took from Storm's End, Edric Storm, would be it. #9: I'll go out on a limb and say they were all Kingsguard. We do not sow: Greyjoy Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken: House Martell. _____________________________________ Sunspear is located on a peninsula of land just south of the Broken Arm. A thousand years ago, Dorne was filled with petty, warring lords. When the warrior queen of the Rhoynar of the eastern continent, Nymeria, came with her people to Westeros, she took one of the strongest of the Dornish lords as husband. Lord Mors Martell, with the aid of Nymeria and the Rhoynar, conquered the rest of Dorne. Following the custom of the Rhoynar, the Martells now call themselves Princes. Dorne was the only kingdom in Westeros to be ruled independently from the Targaryens, and did so for 150 years. After repeated attempts at conquest failed, King Daeron II brought Dorne into the fold by peaceable means, marrying the Prince of Sunspear's sister and giving his own sister to be the wife of the Prince. Their motto is, "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken." The current lord of the house is Prince Doran Martell, whose sister Princess Elia was killed in the Sack of King's Landing and whose uncle Prince Lewyn of the Kingsguard died fighting at the Trident. He has one brother, the notorious and infamous Prince Oberyn Martell, who is called the Red Viper after an incident in his youth when another young man died after duelling against him for the hand of a woman, sparking accusations of the use of a poisoned blade. Wed to the Princess Mellario of the Free City of Norvos, Prince Doran has three children: Princess Arianne is his eldest child and his heir. Before Prince Doran, his mother was Princess of Dorne. She was a close friend to Lady Joanna Lannister, and indeed had tried to marry one of her children to one of Lord Tywin's twins. He rebuffed her, and always seemed to hold Princess Elia's marriage to Rhaegar Targaryen as an insult. Spoilers: The Martells have made alliance with the Lannisters in return for the betrothal of Prince Trystane to Princess Myrcella, a seat on the small council, some castles on the marches, and the head of Ser Gregor Clegane who raped and killed their sister Princess Elia. Prince Oberyn came to claim the seat and press for Ser Gregor's head. When it was clear that Lord Tywin meant to forego that promise, Prince Oberyn convinced Tyrion Lannister -- then being tried for the murder of King Joffrey -- to make him his champion. The Red Viper very nearly won but despite the terrible wounds and the poison introduced with them on Ser Gregor's body, the Mountain was able to kill the prince. Ser Gregor lies on the brink of death from the effects of the poison. __________________________________________________ ___________________ #7 -- The Flaming Green Chain Heraldry: Ser Bronn of Blackwater Bronn is a scoundrel and sellsword whose saving grace is his great skill with the sword. At first being party to the capture of Tyrion Lannister by Lady Catelyn Stark, at the Eyrie Bronn took Tyrion's part in a trial by combat. Killing Ser Vardis Egen, Lady Lysa's champion and the captain of the Arryn guard, Bronn and Tyrion were sent alone through the mountain road. They survived that however, and won allies from the mountain clans. Following Tyrion Lannister to King's Landing, Bronn helped collect an army of sellswords for the Hand. After the battle of the Blackwater, he and six hundred others were knighted for the aid they provided in the battle. When Tyrion Lannister was tried for the murder of King Joffrey, Ser Bronn was bribed away from standing as his champion by Cersei Lannister who gave him Lollys Stokeworth as a bride. He clearly has intentions of making sure that she inherits Stokeworth, despite her mother and her elder sister. On Jon's legitimacy: Yup, the debate begins here. Jon is known as Ned Stark's bastard, but that does not mean he is Rhaegar's bastard. Bear in mind these two pieces of information:
- Dornish women do not find it so unseemly that their men sleep with other women. Princess Elia, Rhaegar's wife, was Dornish. - There is precedent for the Targaryens to be polygamous. A Targaryen ancestor was said to have married all of his sisters. If you put those together, it could in fact be possible that Rhaegar and Lyanna were legitimately married in secret and that Jon is, in fact, their trueborn son and the rightful Targaryen heir. As the son of Rhaegar, who is older than Daenerys, Jon is ahead of her in the line of succession. On Tyrion's guilt: Reading the chapter over again, it looks like Joffrey was either killed by the Strangler crystal-poison, hidden in Sansa's hairnet, removed by Lady Oleanna and put in the chalice of wine by someone - OR that he was killed by poison in Tyrion's pigeon pie and that he ended up eating the poison meant for Tyrion (which was why I fingered Cersei). I'm leaning more towards the idea that Tyrion admitting his crime to Jaime is simply meant to hurt Jaime. Anyhow, if it's the more likely option and it was the strangler crystal, then Littlefinger was likely involved, but the Tyrells - at least, Lady Oleanna - had to have been in on it too. Hmm... this might be fun...
1. There are seven Kingdoms in Westeros. What families rule each of the seven Kingdoms and where is their seat of power? (as of the beginning of Book 1) The North: Starks, was from Winterfell, but who knows where now... an underground cavern under the Wall perhaps? The Vale: Arryn, Eyrie Dorne: Martell, Sunspear The Reach: Tyrell, Highgarden(Previously Baratheon) The Stormlands: Stannis? The Riverlands: Tully, Riverrun The Rock: Lannister, Casterly Rock Iron Islands: Greyjoy, Pyke 2. Name all the people who have been king since the beginning of book 1. Now... Robert Baratheon, Joffrey Baratheon, Tywin lannister have sat on the Iron Throne. If that is what you mean. 3. Name the direwolves: Robb: Grey Wind Jon: Ghost Sansa: Lady Arya: Nymeria Bran: Summer Rickon: Shaggydog 4. Who killed - Jon Arryn: Lysa Arryn Robb Stark: A mob by the word of Walder Frey. The Red Viper: Gregor Clegane shattered his face. Joffery Lannister: A matter of some debate. My guess are the Tyrells. Robert Baratheon: Boar, behind is a Lannister plot. Ser Mandon: Podrick Payne 5. Technically who is the rightful king of the realm? Dany, since Jon is unfit because he does not exist. Every man on the watch is forfeit, and is considered dead for any leadership, rule or inheritance rights. 6. How were the Wights released? I've no idea. Maybe because of the commotion Beyond the wall. Mance's huge army moving must have awoken them or something. 7. Identify these house shields: A mockingbird: Baelish A lion: Lannister A stag: Baratheon A three headed dog: A direwolf: Stark A chain with green flames: Bronn A ship with an onion on it's sail: Seaworth A sun with a spear: Martell 8. Name the 3 dragons belonging to Dany and who they were named after. Drogon - Khal Drogo Viserion - The Beggar King Viserys Rhaegal - Rhaegar, Dany's other brother 9. What do these people have in common at one time or another? Qhorin Halfhand, Sandor Clegane, Jamie Lannister Haha, neither of them has an untouched hand to ue fully. 10. Which house has the words... We do not sow: greyjoy Winter is coming: Stark Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken: Martell or Tully. One of them has Family, Duty, Honor, and I think it's Tully to have it. So I guess Martell. 11. Jon Snow is the 998th lord commander of the Nights Watch. But some are not accounted, and some are counted even if they never took actual duty. It's under a thousand. |
Nice work Bozos, first to get that Snow is the 998th commander.
Here is a few more: House shields: A stone head with red eyes: A pair of towers: Moon-and-falcon on a gray-blue background: Black goat with bloody horns: Purple lightning bolt on a black field: Flayed man: House Motos: As High as Honor: Hear Me Roar: Growing Strong: Ours is the fury: Who won the Hand's Tourney, who won the joust and who won the melee? Was going to post some more but I have a class. Enjoy. And no cheating |
Here is a few more:
House shields: A stone head with red eyes: Um... A pair of towers: House Frey? A guess Moon-and-falcon on a gray-blue background: House Arryn Black goat with bloody horns: The Black Goat of Qohor, used by Vargo Hoat Purple lightning bolt on a black field: Dondarrion Flayed man: Bolton House Motos: As High as Honor: House Arryn again Hear Me Roar: Lannister Growing Strong: Tyrell? Ours is the fury: er... Who won the Hand's Tourney, who won the joust and who won the melee? Joust: Sandor Clegane... I think. Some kerfuffle there. Melee: Thoros of Myr? A question of my own: who won the ARCHERY competition at the tourney? |
