An American symbol as in mom's apple pie and baseball? Or is it just a movie series that no one cares about anymore? I think the former, as the idea of an underdog suceeded against all odds seems so damn... American, and that theme is the one present in nearly all Rocky movies.

The cheesiest scene for me was when rocky was training to beat the big russian guy.

Rocky was using wooden logs and such, and running in the snow, while the big bad russian guy was training with high tech training equipment... http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...ons/icon15.gif

I love Rocky. All the films (IV and V to a lesser extent...III primarily because Senor T is the nemisis "Clubber Lang")

Every man does, deep down.

Hell when Apollo died, which man didn't go, "GO GET IM' ROCKY, KILL THAT COMMIE BASTID! DO IT APOLLO, DO IT FOR AMERICA!!!"

Actually, i was kinda hoping that the Russian killed Rocky too, so that this lame series could finally be put to rest. :D

Nah... i liked Rocky, but man...black people must have slapped themselves silly over such a story, an invincible white boxer. Yeah right... :D

Rocky 5 was a sign that it was over though, it didn't make much sense anymore.

The Eddie Murphy skit in "Heat" says it all!

Hmm, short i-talian boxer with short arm length defeats every obstacle placed in his path.

Seems like all he needs to win a match is the death of a loved one.

Rocky V was just bad, just bad (man I hate Rocky's son in that film) :D

This is a new show coming to NBC in February. It will star S. Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard as trainers on a reality TV show to teach guys to become boxing champs. </font>

If he teache them to fight like he does in Rocky, then Brain Damage to the boxers can't be far off....

I agree, Rocky V was terrible. His kid couldn't act and it was just a stupid movie.

Personally I think the Karate Kid was a better franchise, at least for the 1st 2 movies, same basic idea, loser italian becomes the best at fighting. I personally liked the music from both series, but find Karate Kid's soundtrack has more replay value, and was geared more towards a younger audience, which iw was at the time.
