Since it is October I figured it is time to start a topic on good reads for the Halloween Season. I highly suggest the late and great Roger Zelazny's "A Night In The Lonesome October." It is told from a first person perspective in the form of a dog named Snuff who happens to be the companion to Jack; that is Jack the Ripper and who happens to be the hero of the story as he and Snuff "work at night to keep worse things from happening." The story is told in 31 chapters, a chapter for every day in October. You'll find Dracula, Holmes and Watson, Dr. Frankenstein, Larry Talbot (the wolfman), Rasputin, and a slew of others and their animal companions as they compete in what is called "the Game." Oh, yes, H.P. Lovecraft's "the Elder Gods" are in the mix as well. It is a romp with mystery and humor with more than a little urgency weaved throughout. Just who will win "the Game"?

What are your suggestions?

i suggest readin some of Edgar Allen Poe's short stories. The Tell-Tale Heart, The Black Cat etc. oh, and if you read it at the right time of night, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. it starts off othing like a horror, but it will creep you out if, like i said, it is read at the right time. gave me some weird dreams after i read it a little past midnight.
