What's with all the re-makes of old movies and series??
If they are going to do one, how 'bout the Dukes of Hazzard?? LOL :D Although I'm still not sure if I like the idea of The Rock playing in Walking Tall... I do think The Rock is becoming a great action actor though.. The Rundown was awesome!! |
Yeah I agree. I'm not one of those 'it was always better in the old days' so I wouldn't automatically say a remake would be necessarily worse than the original, but it does show an annoying lack of imagination and a certain amount of contempt for the audience that we're just going to rock to up whatever crap they put on even if it's just a modern day version of an old movie. New plots aren't that hard to come up with are they? ;)

Well while I am generally against most remakes I find that the occasional one is worth a watch. The remake of Ocean's Eleven was much better then the original.

I would have to add The Italian Job to the list of ReMakes that are better than the original. I liked the new one so much I rented the original one.
HUGE DIFFERENCE between the two. The new one is MUCH better. I'm also looking forward to the new Punisher movie (coming out this week or next, I believe). The original with Dolph Lundgren was OK, but this one should be much better now that Hollywood has realized that comics CAN be adapted to movies without having to be "cartooney". Oh...and be careful what you ask for TAO, I think they really ARE working on a Dukes of Hazzard movie. |
Enos... you dipstick.... let's get them Duke boys forever ! :D

be careful what i wish for? lol
what about a remake of "the incredible mr. Limpet? :D |

In addition to former TV shows, Hollywood has also started generating remakes of former popular movies.
Two recent examples are Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Dawn of the Dead. I'm not a horror movie fan myself, but some of my friends are BIG fans of the originals. Two in particular have seen both of the new movies and gave them ringing endorsements. So apparantly it IS possible to actually improve on an old favorite. |
They are doing Dukes of Hazzard, and they want to cast Jessica Simpson as Daisy. ugh
