Sorry - The Big Brother TV show - It's been on in the UK, Spain, USA?? and a number of other countries I think.

Where a bunch of 'ordinary' people are locked in a house with cameras on 24/7 - the human zoo/fishbowl experiment.

I'm ashamed to admit the entire Big Brother concept is Dutch in its origin - it's one of our most embarrassing export products, right up there with XTC, wooden shoe fetishes and the Vengaboys.

You gotta hand it to John de Mol though. He's probably the only businessman who got disgustingly wealthy by selling half an hour of pure BS to the world.

It's not my favourite program either, but millions do appreciate it. God knows why, it's not even real.

I am a little ashamed to admit I do watch the daily show occasionally [img]graemlins/blush.gif[/img] . But the live feed sounds excruciating! Some of the conversations they have in the edited version which is supposedly all the 'interesting' stuff are so dull! I'd hate to think what it must be like to just watch them :D . LOL I think it was on the Fat that they showed some of the up late - it was them sleeping [img]graemlins/uhoh1.gif[/img] ;)

It's weird. It's boring, but I liken it to the musician's habit of having MTV or some such show permanantly on, with the sound down, while recording their own stuff.

It's so brainless that it doesn't distract you from what you're doing but in a way it provides a counterpoint to what's going on around you.

I particularly like it while sitting in my office at work. A bit like having a fishtank in there... ;)

off topic, good to see you back on IW. Yorick said you have been busy. Now you may find this hard to belive but just after I logged on for this session I thought about you!! and wondered if you were going to grace us all again and here you are!

I recommend anyone who finds Big Brother unbearably pseud-ish most of the time to read "Dead Famous" by Ben Elton. Its an incredibly cutting satire on Big Brother thats told through the medium of a murder mystery story. Sounds crap, but its the funniest and truest thing I've ever read about reality TV.
